Experimental Study on Composite Floor Panels

open access: yesSakarya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Dergisi, 2021
This paper presents experimental investigations carried out on various composite floor deck panel systems. The effects of parameters such as concrete shear length, steel thickness, and concrete thickness on the shear and flexural behavior of panels were ...

Warehouse commodity classification from fundamental principles. Part II: Flame heights and flame spread [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In warehouse storage applications, it is important to classify the burning behavior of commodities and rank them according to their material flammability for early fire detection and suppression operations.

Conceptual Design of Compliant Structures for Morphing Wingtips Using Single-Row Corrugated Panels

open access: yesAerospace
Morphing wingtips have the potential to improve aircraft performance. By connecting the wingtips and the wings with a compliant structure, a continuous aerodynamic surface can be achieved for a better aerodynamic performance. However, how to maintain the

EFFECT OF CORRUGATION PANEL WIDTH OF COMPOSITE PLATE GIRDERS WITH CORRUGATED TRIANGULAR WEB [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Al-Azhar University Engineering Sector, 2018
this paper is concerned with composite plate girders with triangular corrugated webs. Finite element analysis using the computer package ABAQUS is employed to investigate the behavior and ultimate strength capacity of the girder. Parameters that affect the behavior of these girders are slenderness of the web d/t, web panel aspect ratio b/d, width to ...

Brownian transport in corrugated channels with inertia

open access: yes, 2012
The transport of suspended Brownian particles dc-driven along corrugated narrow channels is numerically investigated in the regime of finite damping. We show that inertial corrections cannot be neglected as long as the width of the channel bottlenecks is

Strain-induced Evolution of Electronic Band Structures in a Twisted Graphene Bilayer

open access: yes, 2013
Here we study the evolution of local electronic properties of a twisted graphene bilayer induced by a strain and a high curvature. The strain and curvature strongly affect the local band structures of the twisted graphene bilayer; the energy difference ...

Charge transfer and weak bonding between molecular oxygen and graphene zigzag edges at low temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study of air-physisorbed defective carbon nano-onions evidences in favor of microwave assisted formation of weakly-bound paramagnetic complexes comprising negatively-charged O2- ions and edge carbon atoms carrying pi-

Detectable inertial effects on Brownian transport through narrow pores

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate the transport of suspended Brownian particles dc driven along corrugated narrow channels in a regime of finite damping. We demonstrate that inertial corrections cannot be neglected as long as the width of the channel bottlenecks is smaller

Mapping Nanoscale Buckling in Atomically Thin Cr2Ge2Te6

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic‐resolution STEM is used to resolve nanoscale buckling in monolayer Cr2Ge2Te₆. A noise‐robust image analysis reconstructs three‐dimensional lattice distortions from single plan‐view images, revealing pronounced defect‐driven nm‐scale out‐of‐plane buckling.

The Cuttlebone Blueprint for Multifunctional Metamaterials: Design Taxonomy, Functional Decoupling, and Future Horizons

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cuttlebone‐inspired metamaterials exploit a septum‐wall architecture to achieve excellent mechanical and functional properties. This review classifies existing designs into direct biomimetic, honeycomb‐type, and strut‐type architectures, summarizes governing design principles, and presents a decoupled design framework for interpreting multiphysical ...
