Surface Properties of CeB6 and Challenges in Surface Preparation Revealed by Scanning Tunneling Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
The investigation of the Kondo lattice system CeB6${\rm CeB}_6$ by highly surface sensitive techniques is hampered by difficulties in preparing well‐ordered, atomically flat surfaces. The richness of possible surface terminations and their impact on spectroscopic STM results are discussed.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the In-Plane Compression of Corrugated Paperboard Panels

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications, 2022
Finite element analysis (FEA) has been proven as a useful design tool to model corrugated paperboard boxes, and is capable of accurately predicting load capacity. The in-plane deformation, however, is usually significantly underpredicted.

Two Distinct Phases of Bilayer Graphene Films on Ru(0001) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
By combining angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy we reveal the structural and electronic properties of multilayer graphene on Ru(0001). We prove that large ethylene exposure allows to synthesize two distinct phases

Mismatching Expressions: Spatiotemporal and Kinematic Differences in Autistic and Non‐Autistic Facial Expressions

open access: yesAutism Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Preliminary studies suggest there are differences in the facial expressions produced by autistic and non‐autistic individuals. However, it is unclear what specifically is different, whether such differences remain after controlling for facial morphology and alexithymia, and whether production differences relate to perception differences ...

Directed transport of polymer drops on vibrating superhydrophobic substrates: A Molecular Dynamics study

open access: yes, 2013
Using Molecular Dynamics simulations of a coarse-grained polymer liquid we investigate the transport of droplets on asymmetrically structured (saw-tooth shaped), vibrating substrates.

Geometrically induced modification of surface plasmons in the optical and telecom regimes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate that the introduction of a subwavelength periodic modulation into a metallic structure strongly modifies the guiding characteristics of the surface plasmon modes supported by the system.

A Natural Resource‐Based View of Circular Economy Practices in the Pharmaceutical Industry

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pharmaceutical industry is facing escalating environmental sustainability issues including gaseous emissions, waste generation, and excessive consumption of energy and non‐renewable materials. Nevertheless, the adoption of sustainable business models such as the circular economy (CE) is still in its infancy in this sector due to complex ...
