Stiffness Tests of Trapezoidally Corrugated Shear Webs

Journal of the Structural Division, 1977
Picture-frame shear tests of the in-plane shear stiffness of discretely attached corrugated plates with trapezoidal corrugations were conducted. The test specimens were commercially available corrugated panels 23-⅝-in. (600 mm) (six corrugations) wide, with lengths ranging from a maximum of 90 in. (2,290 mm) to a minimum of 18 in. (460 mm).

Stress distribution in the flanges of girders with corrugated webs

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2012
Abstract The corrugated steel plate is a widely used structural element in many fields of application because of its numerous favorable properties. Due to the web corrugation the normal and shear stress distribution in the flange and web plates are different from the stress distribution of the conventional I-girders under in-plane bending and shear ...

Spar-Web Design in Relation to Thermal Stresses-The Corrugated Web

The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1962
SummaryThe possibilities of a vertically-corrugated web as a means of reducing thermal stresses naturally have for some time been generally appreciated by designers. The stress relief to be expected is examined in some detail here. It is shown that quite shallow corrugations can be effective in reducing thermal stress and that a flange-to-web ...

Shear strength of trapezoidal corrugated steel webs

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2013
Abstract Shear strength of trapezoidal corrugated steel webs is an important issue for the design of box girder bridges with trapezoidal corrugated steel webs. Eight H-shape steel girders with trapezoidal corrugated webs are firstly tested to investigate the shear behavior of webs.

The Shear Stiffness of Flat-sided Corrugated Webs

Aeronautical Quarterly, 1968
SummaryA method of analysis is presented for the shear stiffness of a flat-sided corrugated web, attached at a series of discrete points to flanges either on one side or on both sides of the web. Simple expressions are obtained for the shear stiffness of both types of web, and it is shown that there may be a considerable loss of stiffness due to the ...

Segmental Concrete Bridges with Corrugated Steel Webs

2011
A Prestressed Concrete (PC) bridge with corrugated steel webs is less expensive than a conventional PC bridge with concrete webs if the span is more than 50 m. This is due to the fact that the corrugated web bridge is 20–30% lighter than the concrete web bridge.
