The organization of the human cerebral cortex estimated by intrinsic functional connectivity.

open access: yesJournal of Neurophysiology, 2011
Information processing in the cerebral cortex involves interactions among distributed areas. Anatomical connectivity suggests that certain areas form local hierarchical relations such as within the visual system. Other connectivity patterns, particularly

Glutamatergic Plasticity in Medial Prefrontal Cortex and Ventral Tegmental Area Following Extended-Access Cocaine Self-Administration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Glutamate signaling in prefrontal cortex and ventral tegmental area plays an important role in the molecular and behavioral plasticity associated with addiction to drugs of abuse.

Sequential selection of economic good and action in medial frontal cortex of macaques during value-based decisions

open access: yeseLife, 2015
Value-based decisions could rely either on the selection of desired economic goods or on the selection of the actions that will obtain the goods. We investigated this question by recording from the supplementary eye field (SEF) of monkeys during a ...

Examining Representational Similarity in ConvNets and the Primate Visual Cortex [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We compare several ConvNets with different depth and regularization techniques with multi-unit macaque IT cortex recordings and assess the impact of the same on representational similarity with the primate visual cortex. We find that with increasing depth and validation performance, ConvNet features are closer to cortical IT representations.

Network based statistical analysis detects changes induced by continuous theta-burst stimulation on brain activity at rest [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We combined continuous theta-burst stimulation (cTBS) and resting state (RS)-fMRI approaches to investigate changes in functional connectivity (FC) induced by right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC)-cTBS at rest in a group of healthy subjects.

A large fraction of neocortical myelin ensheathes axons of local inhibitory neurons

open access: yeseLife, 2016
Myelin is best known for its role in increasing the conduction velocity and metabolic efficiency of long-range excitatory axons. Accordingly, the myelin observed in neocortical gray matter is thought to mostly ensheath excitatory axons connecting to ...

Hierarchical Features of Large-Scale Cortical Connectivity

open access: yes, 2005
The analysis of complex networks has revealed patterns of organization in a variety of natural and artificial systems, including neuronal networks of the brain at multiple scales.

Spatio-Temporal Dynamics of Visual Imagery for Intuitive Brain-Computer Interface [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Visual imagery is an intuitive brain-computer interface paradigm, referring to the emergence of the visual scene. Despite its convenience, analysis of its intrinsic characteristics is limited. In this study, we demonstrate the effect of time interval and channel selection that affects the decoding performance of the multi-class visual imagery.

Phenomenology without conscious access is a form of consciousness without top-down attention [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We agree with Block's basic hypothesis postulating the existence of phenomenal consciousness without cognitive access. We explain such states in terms of consciousness without top-down, endogenous attention and speculate that their correlates may be a ...
