Cortical Bone Screw Fixation

2017
Placement of lumbar fixation screws using the cortical bone trajectory is a novel and potentially valuable technique. In this chapter, we discuss the current literature on clinical outcomes and biomechanical properties of the cortical bone trajectory. We examine indications for which this trajectory may be beneficial compared to a traditional pedicle ...

Cortical bone measurements in Turner's syndrome

American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 1977
AbstractCortical bone width measurements taken at midshaft on the second metacarpal were obtained from 156 hand X‐rays of 80 karyotypically documented individuals with Turner's syndrome age 1 to 25 years. Total shaft width, medullary width, cortical width and percent cortical area were grouped by bone age and compared with normal female standards ...

Quantitative radiology: radiogrammetry of cortical bone

The British Journal of Radiology, 1976
Based on personal experience and data in the literature, an overview is given of radiogrammetry of cortical bone of the second metacarpal. There is a within- and between-observer error which amounts respectively to 1.2 and 1.5% for the outer diameter and 4.8 and 6.4% for the inner diameter.
