ABSTRACT Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), characterized by repetitive upper airway obstruction, leads to chronic intermittent hypoxia (cIH) and induces cognitive and neuronal network disruptions similar to those observed in Alzheimer's disease (AD). These pathologies are often presented together in the elderly and share some pathophysiological mechanisms.

Cortical Spreading Depression and Migraine
Current Neurology and Neuroscience Reports, 2010Cortical spreading depression, a slowly propagating wave of transient neuronal and glial depolarization, is widely accepted as the electrophysiologic substrate of migraine aura and a trigger for headache. Recent clinical and experimental evidence reinforces the putative role of cortical spreading depression in migraine pathophysiology.
