Corticotomy–An Accelerated Orthodontic Procedure

open access: yesScholars Journal of Dental Sciences, 2021
Corticotomy found to be effective in accelerating orthodontic treatment. It involves selective alveolar decortication in the form of decortication lines and dots performed around the teeth that are to be moved. It is done to induce a state of increased tissue turnover and a transient osteopenia, which is followed by a faster rate of orthodontic tooth ...

Periodontal and orthodontic management of impacted canines

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract The maxillary and mandibular canines are described by many clinicians as the “cornerstone” of the arch. When in their optimal position, they play a critical role in providing a well‐balanced occlusal scheme that contributes toward functional as well as neuromuscular stability, harmony, esthetics, and dentofacial balance.

Inflammation and mechanical force‐induced bone remodeling

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Periodontitis arises from imbalanced host–microbe interactions, leading to dysbiosis and destructive inflammation. The host's innate and adaptive immune responses produce pro‐inflammatory mediators that stimulate destructive events, which cause loss of alveolar bone and connective tissue attachment.

Long‐term stability of horizontal bone augmentation at implant sites

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Horizontal bone augmentation is a fundamental surgical procedure in regenerative implant dentistry. In recent decades, this procedure has evolved, enabling clinicians to achieve predictable and stable horizontal bone augmentation that supports dental implant restorations.

Physeal Allograft Transfer for Physeal Bars: A Safety and Feasibility Study in a Domestic Swine Model

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, Volume 44, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Premature physeal closure occurs following trauma, cancer, or infection. Current treatments have poor success rates. With recent pediatric donor tissue availability, physeal allograft transfer (PAT) can now be considered. The purpose of this study was to study the safety and feasibility of PAT in a large animal model.

The Effect of Partial Corticotomy on the Rate of Maxillary Canine Retraction: Clinical and Radiographic Study

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The study aimed to evaluate, clinically and radiographically, the effect of partial corticotomy of the buccal plate distal to the canine on the rate of maxillary canine retraction.

Vertebral Growth Modulation Through Periosteal Resection and Fixed Length Deformity Overcorrection: Computational and In Vivo Pilot Study

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 8, Issue 4, December 2025.
The feasibility of using growth promoting strategies (vertebral periosteal resection and distraction) was investigated via computational and in vivo analysis. Computational analysis demonstrated that there is an increasing mechanical benefit to utilizing concave distraction over convex compression during spinal deformity correction.

An adjunctive minor surgical procedure for increased rate of retraction

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2013
Introduction: Orthodontic treatment is based on the principle that if prolonged pressure is applied to the tooth, tooth movement will occur as the bone around the tooth re-models.
