West Nile Virus Antibody Prevalence in American Crows (Corvus brachyrhynchos) and Fish Crows (Corvus ossifragus) in Georgia, U.S.A.

Avian Diseases, 2007
Crows have been the centerpiece of avian West Nile virus (WNV) surveillance and research in North America. This work has demonstrated variation in susceptibility to WNV infection between American (Cor vus brachyrhynchos) andFish Crows (Corvus ossifragus).

OCCULT FILARIASIS IN CROWS (Corvus brachyrhynchos brachyrhynchos BREHM) INFECTED WITH Splendidofilaria caperata HIBLER, 1964 (NEMATODA: FILARIOIDEA)

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1981
Adult Splendidofilaria caperata Hibler, 1964 were found in the tunica media of the pulmonary arteries of 21% of 341 crows (Corvus brachyrhynchos brachyrhynchos Brehm) wintering in southern Ontario, Canada. Microfilariae of S. caperata were not observed in the peripheral blood or in skin snips of infected crows.

Survival and Release of 5 American Crows (Corvus brachyrhynchos) Naturally Infected With West Nile Virus

Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery, 2022
West Nile virus (WNV) has had a significant effect on avian populations in the United States since being first identified in 1999. Avian species in WNV endemic areas do not suffer the same level of mortality that has been reported in birds within the United States since the virus was first identified in North America.

Blood Parasites of American Crows (Corvus brachyrhynchos) and Fish Crows (Corvus ossifragus) in Florida, U.S.A.

Comparative Parasitology, 2002
Blood films from 46 fish crows (Corvus ossifragus Wilson) and 42 American crows (Corvus brachyrhynchos Brehm) from Florida, U.S.A., were examined for blood parasites. Haemoproteus picae Coatney and Roudabush, Haemoproteus danilewskii Kruse, Trypanosoma avium (Danilewsky), and microfilariae of an unidentified filarioid were identified from both species ...

The complete mitochondrial genome of the American crow, Corvus brachyrhynchos (Passeriformes, Corvidae)

Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2015
The American crow, Corvus brachyrhynchos (Passeriformes, Corvidae), is a large passerine bird species closely related to the raven. Herein, we first published the complete mitochondrial genome of American crows. The mitogenome was 16,917 bp long, and composed of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and one putative control region ...
