Corynebacterium haemolyticum infections in Sri Lanka [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hygiene, 1981
SummaryCorynebacterium haemolyticum infections are described for the first time in Sri Lanka. In a period of 2 years from 1978–80 C. haemolyticum was isolated from the pharynx of 9 patients with tonsillitis and from local septic lesions in 7 other patients. Live cell imaging of macrophage/bacterium interaction demonstrates cell lysis induced by Corynebacterium diphtheriae and Corynebacterium ulcerans

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2019
Objectives In frame of a study to characterize the interaction of human macrophage-like cells with pathogenic corynebacteria, Corynebacterium diphtheriae and Corynebacterium ulcerans, live cell imaging experiments were carried out and time lapse ...

Comparative genomic analyses reveal a lack of a substantial signature of host adaptation in Rhodococcus equi (‘Prescottella equi’) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Rhodococcus equi (‘Prescottella equi’) is a pathogenic actinomycete primarily infecting horses but has emerged as an opportunistic human pathogen. We have sequenced the genome of the type strain of this species, R.

Pharmacokinetics of Long‐Acting Ampicillin and Its Impact on the Gut Microbiome and Resistome in Rhesus Macaques (Macaca mulatta)

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Injectable antimicrobials with documented prolonged dosing intervals (> 48 h) for use in rhesus macaques are sparse. The objective of our study was to assess the pharmacokinetics, urine excretion, and effects on gut microbiome and resistome of intramuscular administered long‐acting formulation of ampicillin (Albipen LA) in macaques.

Prognosis and characteristics of Corynebacterium exit site infection: a single-center retrospective study

open access: yesRenal Replacement Therapy
Background Corynebacterium is a rare but important cause of peritoneal dialysis (PD)-associated infection. A previous study reported that continued antibiotic use at the exit site is associated with increased Corynebacterium exit site infection (ESI ...
