Measuring Coseismic Displacements With Point-Like Targets Offset Tracking

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2014
Offset tracking is an important complement to measure large ground displacements in both azimuth and range dimensions where synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry is unfeasible. Subpixel offsets can be obtained by searching for the cross-correlation peak calculated from the match patches uniformly distributed on two SAR images.

Derivation of 3D Coseismic Displacement Field from Integrated Azimuth and LOS Displacements for the 2018 Hualien Earthquake

open access: yesRemote Sensing
A 3D surface deformation field for an earthquake can aid in understanding fault behaviors and earthquake mechanisms. However, SAR-based 3D surface deformation estimates are often limited by insufficient observations and hampered by various error sources.

Regression models for estimating coseismic landslide displacement

Engineering Geology, 2007
Newmark's sliding-block model is widely used to estimate coseismic slope performance. Early efforts to develop simple regression models to estimate Newmark displacement were based on analysis of the small number of strong-motion records then available. The current availability of a much larger set of strong-motion records dictates that these regression

Comparison of Coseismic Displacement Obtained from GEONET and Seismic Networks

Journal of Earthquake and Tsunami, 2016
It is generally recognized that permanent displacements estimated by the double integration of acceleration records need a suitable baseline correction. Current baseline correction methods have been validated by comparing the displacements with those from the Global Positioning System (GPS) records nearby, but GPS stations that are sufficiently close ...

GPS Near-Real-Time Coseismic Displacements for the Great Tohoku-oki Earthquake

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2013
Here, we present the application to the great Tohoku-oki (Japan) earthquake (United States Geological Survey M = 9.0, March 11, 2011, 05:46:24 Coordinated Universal Time) of a novel approach, named Variometric Approach for Displacements Analysis Stand-Alone Engine, able to estimate accurate coseismic displacements and waveforms in real time, in the ...

Effects of geological complexities on coseismic displacement: hints from 2D numerical modelling

Terra Nova, 2008
AbstractBy means of a 2D finite‐element procedure, we tested how heterogeneities at the scale of seismogenic fault affect the displacement. We defined one or more slip distributions for two typical normal‐faulting earthquakes in the Central Apennines, computed the displacement occurred within different structures including lateral heterogeneities, and ...
