Regression models for estimating coseismic landslide displacement

Engineering Geology, 2007
Newmark's sliding-block model is widely used to estimate coseismic slope performance. Early efforts to develop simple regression models to estimate Newmark displacement were based on analysis of the small number of strong-motion records then available. The current availability of a much larger set of strong-motion records dictates that these regression

Lichen dating of coseismic landslide hazards in alpine mountains

Geomorphology, 1994
Abstract Studies of rockfalls and block slides provide insight about seismic shaking hazards in alpine mountains subject to earthquakes. Large samples of the longest axis of the largest lichen on each block can be used to identify regional landslide events; lichen-size distributions for many sites cluster consistenly at the same sizes.

GIS-based evaluation on the fault motion-induced coseismic landslides

Journal of Mountain Science, 2012
Earthquake-induced potential landslides are commonly estimated using landslide susceptibility maps. Nevertheless, the fault location is not identified and the ground motion caused by it is unavailable in the map. Thus, potential coseismic landslides for a specific fault motion-induced earthquake could not be predicted using the map. It is meaningful to

A Conceptual Event-Tree Model for Coseismic Landslide Dam Hazard Assessment

2014
Earthquakes may trigger a series of multiple cascading geohazard phenomena. For example, coseismic landslides may block rivers and form landslide dams, which occur frequently in tectonically active mountains with narrow and steep valleys. The catastrophic release of water masses from landslide-impounded lakes is capable to produce outburst floods and ...
