Abstract This manuscript documents a systematic ethnomycological analysis of ethnographic archives. Focusing on texts describing human–fungi interactions, I conduct a global, cross‐cultural review of mushroom use, covering 193 societies worldwide. The study reveals diverse mushroom‐related cultural practices, emphasizing the significance of fungi ...

Laser microprobe study of cosmic dust (IDPs) and potential source materials [PDF]
The study of cosmic dust or interplanetary dust particles (IDP) can provide vital information about primitive materials derived primarily from comets and asteroids along with a small unknown fraction from the nearby interstellar medium.

Among the key parameters defining the ISM of galaxies is the fraction of the metals that are locked up in dust: the metals-to-dust ratio. This ratio bears not only on the ISM and its evolution, but particularly on the origin of cosmic dust.

Cosmic X-Rays and Interstellar Dust [PDF]
Observational results of cosmic diffuse X-rays are reviewed with particular emphasis on soft X-rays. The intensity distribution of soft X-rays over the celestial sphere indicates that the diffuse component of soft X-rays consists of an extra-galactic and a galactic component.

Mining an Anthropocene in Japan: On the making and work of geological imaginaries
Short Abstract This article addresses how the lithic and the drift might be reworked as an Anthropocene material outside of a chronostratigraphy. Revisiting the finding of a floating fern fossil at the Hashima mine, we delve into a complex array of Geological imaginaries, and undertake our own speculative work.

Cosmic dust: Laboratory analyses of extremely small particles [PDF]
A discussion of cosmic dust, its classification, the usefulness of its analysis, and problems associated with its analysis is presented. All measurements on stratospheric dust particles presented here were made with secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS).

Disentangling accretion disk and dust emissions in the infrared spectrum of type 1 AGN
We use a semi-empirical model to reproduce the 0.1-10um spectral energy distribution (SED) of a sample of 85 luminous quasars. In the model, the continuum emission from the accretion disk as well as the nebular lines are represented by a single empirical

We examine in detail the recent proposal that extreme Cosmic-Ray-Dominated-Regions (CRDRs) characterize the ISM of galaxies during events of high-density star formation, fundamentally altering its initial conditions (Papadopoulos 2010).
