The Theory of Cosmic Inflation
2017The horizon and flatness problems had been recognized since the 1960s, but were rarely discussed—simply because no one had any idea as to what to do about them.

Particle creation, inflation, and cosmic isotropy
Physical Review D, 1991Within the framework of homogeneous models of the Universe, inflation provides the simplest explanation for the present cosmic isotropy, and a Bianchi type-IX (mixmaster) model is the least prejudiced guess we can make about the state of the Universe before the inflationary phase.

Inflation can save cosmic strings
Physical Review Letters, 1989A new scenario of cosmic strings is presented which is free from the gravitational-radiation constraints imposed on their line density by the primordial nucleosynthesis and the timing data of a millisecond pulsar. In this scenario the phase transition is induced nonthermally during the inflation so that it is not necessary to assume Friedmann-Robertson-
