Noise Reduction in Nano‐Raman Spectroscopy Using Principal Component Analysis

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
Comparison of the intensity map of the 1168 cm−1 peak obtained from tip‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy measurements, before and after principal component analysis (PCA). The raw data (left) shows significant noise, masking the structural features of the sample.

Raman of 2D‐MoS2: Disentangling the Metallic Phase Conundrum

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
2D‐MoS2 can suffer oxidation to MoO3 during Raman measurements, even under low‐power laser. We report a comprehensive Raman analysis of 1T‐MoS2 by investigating the impact of oxidizing (air) atmosphere, laser power, irradiation time, and temperature changes on the sample. The results might seem surprising, but they should not be.

Kinetics of Formation of Starch Microspheres Produced Using Aqueous Two‐Phase Systems With Different Polymers in the Continuous Phase

open access: yesStarch - Stärke, EarlyView.
The kinetics of starch microsphere formation in aqueous two‐phase systems. Raman, X‐ray diffraction, and isothermal calorimetry shows that crystallization and heat flow development will be affected by the polymers used in the continues phase. ABSTRACT Starch microspheres are employed in medicinal products as embolization agents and drug delivery ...
