New remarks on the cosmological argument [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Philosophy of Religion, 2012

We formulate these two arguments in such a way that each conclusion follows in first-order logic from the corresponding assumptions.

The Kalām Cosmological Argument

open access: yes, 1979
A survey of recent philosophical literature on the kalam cosmological argument reveals that arguments for the finitude of the past and, hence, the beginning of the universe remain robust. Plantinga’s brief criticisms of Kant’s argument in his First Antinomy concerning time are shown not to be problematic for the kalam argument.
