Untangling the tribe Coreopsideae (Asteraceae) beyond taxonomic concepts [PDF]

open access: yesActa Botânica Brasílica, 2023
It is presented the first taxonomic study of the tribe Coreopsideae (Asteraceae) in Northeastern Brazil. A total of seven genera and 16 species were recorded in the region, with Bidens being the richest genus (8 spp.). Bidens tenera and Cosmos bipinnatus

Host plants and pollination regions for the long-distance migratory noctuid moth, Hadula trifolii Hufnagel in China. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol, 2022
Nocturnal moths are important pollinators of plants. The Hadula trifolii moths collected on Beihuang Island in the spring probably traveled about 2000 km from southern China. Abstract Nocturnal moths are important pollinators of plants. The clover cutworm, Hadula trifolii, is a long‐distance migratory nocturnal moth. Although the larvae of H.

Are native and non-native pollinator friendly plants equally valuable for native wild bee communities? [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol, 2020
We show that non‐native plants are similarly or even more attractive to native bees than native plants. However, foraging patterns, bee community assemblage, and bee‐plant network structures were different with lower levels of specialization at non‐native plants.

EVALUATION OF WEED SILAGE IN DAIRY CATTLE FEEDING IN SMALL-SCALE DAIRY SYSTEMS

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2023
Background: The use of weeds in animal feed is a common practice in Mexico. Objective: To evaluate the ensilage of grasses as forage alternatives in the feeding of cows in small-scale milk production systems. Methodology: Two grass silages were evaluated:

1080. Coreopsis lanceolata L.: Compositae

open access: yesCurtis's Botanical Magazine, Volume 40, Issue 4, Page 461-474, December 2023., 2023
Summary Coreopsis lanceolata L. (Compositae: Heliantheae: Coreopsidinae) is described and illustrated, a full synonymy provided, and its taxonomic position discussed. The generic concepts are discussed in relation to Bidens L. and Cosmos Cav., noting that molecular studies have so far not been of much practical use.

Thinking outside the F‐box: how UFO controls angiosperm development

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 240, Issue 3, Page 945-959, November 2023., 2023
Summary The formation of inflorescences and flowers is essential for the successful reproduction of angiosperms. In the past few decades, genetic studies have identified the LEAFY transcription factor and the UNUSUAL FLORAL ORGANS (UFO) F‐box protein as two major regulators of flower development in a broad range of angiosperm species.

Plant Species Composition and Conservation Values at Dilla University Botanical and Ecotourism Garden, Dilla, Ethiopia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Ethiopia has a diverse topography with higher plant species composition and estimated to the higher proportion of endemic plant species. Currently, several factors drive natural forest destruction in the country, extensive agricultural land expansion triggered by increasing human population is probably the dominant force. The Dilla University Botanical

The tomato cytochrome P450 CYP712G1 catalyses the double oxidation of orobanchol en route to the rhizosphere signalling strigolactone, solanacol

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 235, Issue 5, Page 1884-1899, September 2022., 2022
Summary Strigolactones (SLs) are rhizosphere signalling molecules and phytohormones. The biosynthetic pathway of SLs in tomato has been partially elucidated, but the structural diversity in tomato SLs predicts that additional biosynthetic steps are required. Here, root RNA‐seq data and co‐expression analysis were used for SL biosynthetic gene discovery.

Occurrence of Leaf Blight on Cosmos Caused by Alternaria cosmosa in Korea

open access: yesThe Plant Pathology Journal, 2015
In 2011, a leaf blight disease was observed on cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus) leaves in Nonsan, Korea. The causal pathogen was isolated and identified based on morphological and molecular approaches. Morphological characteristics of the pathogen matched well
