In Vitro Cellular & Developmental Biology - Plant, 2009
A new protocol for the production of transgenic pineapple plants was developed. Adventitious buds were induced directly from Agrobacterium-infected leaf bases and stem discs of in vitro plants, bypassing the establishment of callus cultures. Non-chimeric transgenic plants were obtained by multiple subculturing of primary transformants under increasing ...

2009 4th International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technologies, 2009
Space is a challenging field for science engineering and education. Cosmo Flower 2008 is a payload on the International Space Station coordinated by Japan Manned Space Systems Corporation (JAMSS). Science team, local governments and civilians get together to send flower seeds to space. This mission aims to create a legend of space, which will be shared

The effects of plant growth-promoting (PGP) compost, conventional fertilizer (NPK), and their combination on fresh and dry herb yield, nutrient uptake, total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoids (TF), and antioxidant activity (DPPH and FRAP) of Orthosiphon stamineus and Cosmos caudatus were determined.

Moon and Cosmos: Plant Growth and Plant Bioelectricity
2012Many of the growth movements of plants (diurnal leaf movements, and perhaps stem dilatation cycles) initiate action potentials which are propagated within the plant body. Action potentials are then able to serve as informational signals that regulate further processes.

Ecological Modelling, 2014
Grassland productivity can be estimated using individual-centred models or via crop simulators parameterized to mimic average morphological and physiological features of the phytocoenosis as a whole. Although the latter is often considered an oversimplified solution, individual-centred models are characterized by a degree of complexity that often ...

ABSTRACTPlant regeneration ability was studied in the medicinal-ornamental plant, Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Sonata white’, which is a dicotyledonous recalcitrant plant to shoot induction. Cotyledons were used as sources of explants to investigate plant regeneration. High frequency of direct shoot induction was obtained when BA (5 mg/l) and AgNO3 (5 mg/l) were

Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have recently attracted considerable interest as eco-friendly alternatives for conventional solvents in many industrial separation processes. However, due to its vast number of possible combinations, reliable approaches for guiding the selection of task-specific DES remain limited.

Experimental data obtained from two Cosmos missions (2044, 2229) performed with dry plant seeds of Arabidopsis thaliana in a Biostack configuration are compared. Biological stress and genetic risk are induced in dry seeds by cosmic radiation, especially the high energetic, densely ionizing component of heavy ions (HI).

Choice of an appropriate solvent is among the crucial steps in the development of a liquid‐ liquid extraction method. The procedure can be simplified by using software for modeling and evaluation of thermodynamic properties such as COSMO‐RS, which calculates a multitude of solvation parameters in the absence of experimental data.
