Elucidating prognostic significance of purine metabolism in colorectal cancer through integrating data from transcriptomic, immunohistochemical, and single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

Predicted costs and benefits of eradicating BVDV from Ireland

open access: yesIrish Veterinary Journal, 2012
Bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) causes an economically important endemic disease (BVD) of cattle in Ireland and worldwide. Systematic eradication by detection and removal of infectious (BVDV carrier) cattle has been successful in several regions.

Cost-benefit analysis of haemodialysis in patients with end-stage kidney disease in Abuja, Nigeria. [PDF]

open access: yesHealth Econ Rev
Background Significant gaps in scholarship on the cost-benefit analysis of haemodialysis exist in low-middle-income countries, including Nigeria. The study, therefore, assessed the cost-benefit of haemodialysis compared with comprehensive conservative ...

Highly multiplexed digital PCR assay for simultaneous quantification of variant allele frequencies and copy number alterations of KRAS and GNAS in pancreatic cancer precursors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining melting curve analysis enhances the multiplexing capability of digital PCR. Here, we developed a 14‐plex assay to simultaneously measure single nucleotide mutations and amplifications of KRAS and GNAS, which are common driver genes in pancreatic cancer precursors. This assay accurately quantified variant allele frequencies in clinical samples

Cost-benefit analysis of flight extended operations (ETOPS) for Garuda Indonesia airways

open access: yesSHS Web of Conferences, 2018
Garuda Indonesia reducing the flight cost used flight extended operations (ETOPS). ETOPS can reduce travel time and fuel consumption. The cost-benefit analysis was conducted to compare the flight between NON ETOPS flight and ETOPS flight Cengkareng ...

Reviewing estimates of the economic efficiency of disaster risk management: opportunities and limitations of using risk-based cost–benefit analysis

open access: yesNatural Hazards, 2016
There is a lot of rhetoric suggesting that disaster risk reduction (DRR) pays, yet surprisingly little in the way of hard facts. This review paper examines the evidence regarding the economic efficiency of DRM based on CBA. Specifically, it addresses the

A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

A Polymorphic Groundness Analysis of Logic Programs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
A polymorphic analysis is an analysis whose input and output contain parameters which serve as placeholders for information that is unknown before analysis but provided after analysis. In this paper, we present a polymorphic groundness analysis that infers parameterised groundness descriptions of the variables of interest at a program point.
