Impact of Initial Treatment Setting on Survival in Relapsed Pediatric and AYA Bone Sarcomas: A Secondary Analysis of a Prospective Clinical Trial

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Outcomes in relapsed or refractory pediatric and AYA bone sarcomas remain poor, and the impact of early referral to specialized sarcoma centers on survival is unclear. Early centralization of care may improve local and systemic treatment quality, but evidence in this population is limited.

A parsimonious model to validate cost-effectiveness analyses on preventive health care

open access: yesBMC Health Services Research, 2021
Background The effect of preventive health care on health expenditures is ambiguous. On the one hand, prevention reduces the costs of future morbidity. On the other hand, prevention leads to costs of life extension.

Cost–Effectiveness Analysis in Pharmacogenomics [PDF]

open access: yesPharmacogenomics, 2010
The existence of finite healthcare budgets drives the need to consider opportunity cost and demonstrate that pharmacogenomic interventions offer added value, in terms of the relative costs and benefits, compared with current practice. This is where the framework of cost-effectiveness analysis is useful.

Neurocognitive, School‐Based, and Quality of Life Outcomes for Youth With Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia: A Scoping Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The medical burdens of sickle cell disease (SCD) and transfusion‐dependent β‐thalassemia (TDT) are chronic and cumulative, even in children. Yet the effects expand beyond medications and healthcare visits due to their impacts on school attendance, academic performance, and peer engagement.

Effect of DFPP on Ferroptosis in Peripheral Blood CD14+ Monocytes of Hyperlipidemic Patients Involving the ACSL4/LPCAT3/ALOX5 Pathway

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Although statins are the cornerstone of lipid‐lowering therapy, their use may be limited in some patients by adverse effects. This study evaluated the possible impact of non‐drug treatment using double‐filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP) on CD14+

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
