Cost Savings Analysis of Individualized Exercise Oncology Programs

open access: yesIntegrative Cancer Therapies, 2019
Background: The physical and economic toll of cancer make it a high health priority. The rising cost of cancer care is now a primary focus for patients, payers, and providers. Escalating costs of clinical trials and national drug regulations have led the

The Role of Net-Zero Energy Residential Buildings in Florida's Energy Transition: Economic Analysis and Technical Benefits [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Net-zero emission policies, coupled with declining costs of renewables, battery storage, and electric vehicles, require both direct and indirect electrification (such as green hydrogen) of the energy infrastructure to address climate change impacts, improve resilience, and lower energy expenses.

Topology Optimization of Lattice Support Structure for Cantilever Beams Fabricated Via Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
A numerical scheme is presented to design a lattice support for metallic components additively built via laser powder bed fusion. Results show that thermal‐induced distortion can be respectively reduced by 69%, 58%, and 50% in comparison to a uniform lattice, a fully solid support, and a truss‐based lattice support.

Potential cost-savings from the use of the biosimilars filgrastim, infliximab and insulin glargine in Canada: a retrospective analysis

open access: yesBMC Health Services Research, 2019
BackgroundIn 2014 and 2015, biosimilars for the drugs filgrastim, infliximab, and insulin glargine were approved for use in Canada. The introduction of biosimilars in Canada could provide significant cost savings for the Canadian healthcare system over ...

De‐simplifying single‐tablet antiretroviral treatments: uptake, risks and cost savings

open access: yesHIV Medicine, 2019
As more HIV‐positive individuals receive antiretroviral therapy (ART), payers are seeking options for covering these increased and sustained drug costs. Strategic use of available generic antiretroviral (ARV) formulations may be feasible.

Savings of the Inspection Cost in Acceptance Sampling [PDF]

open access: yesStatistika: Statistics and Economy Journal, 2018
This paper refers to the rectifying sampling inspection plans with given lot tolerance percent defective (denoted LTPD). The LTPD sampling plans minimizing mean inspection cost per lot of process average quality, when the remainder of rejected lots is ...

A potential cost savings analysis of a penicillin de-labeling program

open access: yesFrontiers in Allergy, 2023
IntroductionOver 95% of patients documented as penicillin allergic can tolerate a penicillin without a reaction. Inaccurate documentation of penicillin allergy leads to more expensive alternative antibiotic prescriptions and an increased incidence of ...

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...
