Biochemical Studies and Production Optimization of β‐Glucosidase From Microcystis aeruginosa CACIAM 03 Using Organic Waste

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Global warming and industrial pollutants pose significant threats to environmental sustainability. In response, enzymes have emerged as promising tools for mitigating pollution. Enzymatic hydrolysis is considered environmentally sustainable due to its biological nature.

Integrated biorefinery for cellulosic ethanol and spherical nanolignin production from coconut waste

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Green coconut waste was subjected to different fractionation methods to obtain integrated lignin nanoparticles and cellulosic ethanol. Pretreatment with gradual addition of dilute sulfuric acid provided a higher structural hemicellulose precursor yield (68.2%).

Possible therapeutic repositioning of valproic acid: From epileptic seizures to acute kidney injury

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Valproic acid, an anticonvulsant, may be repositioned to prevent acute kidney injury due to ischemia followed by reperfusion. It preserves renal functions, electrolyte homeostasis and active sodium transport in kidney tubules, and blocks the onset of hypertension.

Clozapine:norclozapine ratio as a marker of metabolic risk and therapeutic response and effect of valproate on clozapine levels

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Clozapine is the most effective antipsychotic in treatment‐resistant schizophrenia. Clozapine causes weight gain and increased diabetes risk. The role of its metabolite norclozapine and clozapine:norclozapine ratio (CLZ/NCLZ) in metabolic effects has been debated.

Trends in publicly subsidized and private access to GLP‐1 medicines indicated for type 2 diabetes in Australia, 2020–2025

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims GLP‐1 medicines provide substantial cardio‐renal benefits for type 2 diabetes (T2D) and are increasingly used for weight loss. Most high‐income countries subsidize access for T2D with restrictions; use outside of these restrictions occurs through private prescriptions. Despite strong consumer demand, the extent of private access to GLP‐1 medicines
