Forest Cover and Geographic Distance Shape Ant Assemblages in the Southwestern Brazilian Amazon. [PDF]
We investigated how forest cover, precipitation, and spatial distance influence ant species richness and composition in the southwestern Brazilian Amazon. We found that forest cover increases species richness, especially of forest specialists, while spatial distance is the main driver of variation in species composition.

Genetic Diversity of Polymyxin Resistance Genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae Clinical Isolates. [PDF]
ABSTRACT This study investigates the genetic diversity and evolutionary mechanisms driving polymyxin resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae, a critical priority pathogen. By analysing mgrB, phoPQ and pmrAB genes in susceptible (PM‐S) and resistant (PM‐R) populations through neutrality tests (Tajima D, Fu & Li's D) we uncovered polygenic adaptation and ...

Pollen Morphology of Selected Endemic Eudicots From the FLORAS Botanical Garden, Southern Bahia, Brazil. [PDF]
This study describes the pollen morphology of twelve endemic species from the Atlantic Forest, revealing subtle morphopollinic variations. Diagnostic characters such as pollen shape, exine ornamentation, and amb type highlight the region's floristic diversity, providing valuable insights into the ecological and conservation significance of Brazil's ...

Proximity to Natural Habitat Is Not Consistently Associated With Pollination Services in Tropical Smallholder Farms: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [PDF]
We conducted a systematic review and meta‐analysis of 35 studies to examine the relationship between distance to natural habitat and pollinator abundance, species richness and crop fruit set in tropical smallholder farms. We found no consistent effects on abundance or fruit set, and only a slight, highly variable negative effect on pollinator richness,

Few studies have sought to understand the vertical patterns of bat–fruit systems, and therefore, it is not possible to evaluate whether interpretations based on data collected from a single stratum adequately represent the interaction patterns of this system. In this context, we evaluated the dissimilarity in the assemblage of frugivorous bats, plants,

ABSTRACT National afforestation policies are crucial for outlining guidelines and goals to be implemented at the local level. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct research that systematizes indicators from across the country into a single proposal. This study examines the spatiotemporal distribution of urban forest research in Brazil from 1980 to 2020 ...

Lessons from an eradication under multiple constraints of an island rat population of record density
Abstract Invasive rats threaten island biodiversity, disrupting ecosystems and endangering native species. Although rat eradication has succeeded on many islands, tropical islands present unique management challenges. Strict regulations and financial constraints on some tropical islands further limit proven eradication methods, complicating rodent ...
