Synergistic Dual Slip‐Link Toughening of a Water‐Rich Double Network Hydrogel Combining Slide‐Ring and Highly Entangled Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two distinct slip‐link mechanisms – the slide‐ring pulley effect and highly entangled chains – are combined in a water‐rich double network hydrogel, achieving synergistic toughening, near‐complete reversibility, and exceptional friction tear resistance at >$>$91 wt.% water.

Computational modelling of fluid load support in articular cartilage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Natural articular cartilage is known to be an excellent bearing material with very low friction coefficient and wear rate. Theoretical and experimental studies have demonstrated that the interstitial fluid of cartilage is pressurized considerably ...

Fixation of Multiple-Segmented Costosternal Cartilage Fracture in Flail Chest Injury: A Case Report

open access: yes, 2020
Early internal fixation of rib fractures in the setting of flail chest has proven benefits over traditional conservative treatment. This can decrease pneumonia, time on mechanical ventilation, length of stay in intensive care units, need for tracheostomy

Anti‐inflammatory and osteogenic effects of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation in knee osteoarthritis rats via the regulation of the intestinal microbiota

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) improved knee osteoarthritis (KOA) in rats by regulating interleukin‐1β (IL‐1β), IL‐6, and IL‐8 expressions and the bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP‐2)/transforming growth factor β (TGF‐β) signaling pathway.

Fat graft augmentation rhinoplasty compared to costal cartilage graft in saddle nose panfacial fractures

open access: yesOto Rhino Laryngologica Indonesiana, 2022
ABSTRACTBackground: Panfacial fracture can cause nasal function and esthetics alterations, one of which is saddle nose deformity. Post-traumatic saddle nose could be treated with augmentation rhinoplasty to correct the nasal structure and function. It can use autologous material such as fat graft and cartilage graft.

Born this way: Does variation in perinatal limb bone morphology predict adult locomotor repertoire in primates?

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Primates show a high degree of locomotor diversity that engenders similar variance in limb bone cross‐sectional geometry and bending strength: leaping primates have stronger hindlimb bones whereas suspensory species have stronger forelimb bones.

Computed Tomography‐Based Morphometric Analysis Reveals Intercondylar Notch Stenosis and Osteophytes Are Associated With Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Purpose To quantitatively assess intercondylar notch morphometrics using 3‐dimensional computed tomography reconstruction, evaluate their association with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in Asian populations, and investigate the prevalence of osteophytes in patients with ACL injury.
