An Enhanced Synchronization Approach by Combining PMF-FFT and Improved Costas Loop for DSSS
2024 7th International Conference on Information Communication and Signal Processing (ICICSP)In wireless communication systems, the synchronization of the receiver is critical to the system performance. Traditional methods usually carry out the frequency offset estimation and carrier synchronization separately.

False-Lock Performance Improvement in Costas Loops
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1982A technique is described to reduce the probability of false-lock in Costas loops. This is where a frequency offset arises at a multiple of half the incoming data rate due to finite bandwidth of the arm filters. A modification is described to process components of this offset so as to augment the feedback control voltage. The performance is analyzed and

Results are given on the phenomenon of data-related false lock in a Costas loop which contains a perfect integrator in its loop filter. The input carrier to the loop is assumed to be biphase-modulated with a T' periodic binary sequence constructed from Manchester symbols; there are p symbols per period.

Design of a Costas loop down converter
2009 52nd IEEE International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2009This paper presents the the design of a digital down converter (DDC) using a digital Costas loop in a field programmable gate array (FPGA). To reduce the power dissipation we use the CIC filter to perform an efficient decimation, and then follow it with a finite impulse response (FIR) compensation filter that runs at a reduced sampling rate.

Necessary Condition for the Costas Loop to Track Desired Signal Under CW Interference
IEEE Transactions on CommunicationsWhen continuous wave (CW) interference is introduced into the Costas loop, the loop may lock onto the interference signal if the amplitude of the interference reaches a certain threshold, or if the carrier frequency of the interference signal is very ...

False Lock and Bifurcation in Costas Loops
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1989Summary: New results are given on the phenomenon of data-related false lock in a Costas loop that contains a perfect integrator in its loop filter. The input carrier to the loop is assumed to be bi-phase modulated with a \(T'\) periodic binary sequence constructed from Manchester symbols; there are p symbols per period.

Synchronization of TFM typed signals using costas loops
International Journal of Electronics, 1983Abstract The possibility of using a costas loop for the carrier regeneration in tamed frequency modulation (TFM) signal is investigated. By first setting up all important phase changing rules and suitably classifying the various possible phase paths, the equivalent phase detector characteristics (for TFM signal input) of the four phase costas loop are ...

Digital Costas loop design for coherent microsatellite transponders
Proceedings, IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2003This paper presents a design for a satellite transponder using a modified superheterodyne receiver, a digital Costas loop and a conventional transmitter. The overall architecture of the transponder is presented, along with detailed design information.
