A Multifaceted Interplay Among Hemophagocytosis, Interleukin‐18, and Type I Interferon Distinguishes Still Disease From Other Autoinflammatory Diseases

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective The unknown pathophysiology and the lack of specific features for systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis and adult‐onset Still disease (collectively known as Still disease; SD) delay diagnosis and appropriate treatment. The goal of this study was to identify features and mechanisms that distinguish SD from other systemic autoinflammatory ...

A Costas Loop Variant for Large Noise

open access: yesJournal of Asian Scientific Research, 2018
The Costas loop with decision direction can be used for 4QAM demodulation. In this paper we make the decision directed Costas loop more resistant against noise by application of the folding method, that is, carrier recovery after transforming the constellation diagram so that the constellation points coincide.

40Gbit/s Coherent Optical Receiver Using a Costas Loop

open access: yesEuropean Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communication, 2012
A highly integrated 40 Gbit/s coherent optical receiver is reported using a Costas loop as a homodyne optical phase locked loop (OPLL). A photonic IC, an electrical IC, and a hybrid loop filter are characterized, and the feedback loop system is fully analyzed to build a stable homodyne OPLL.

Two-loop master integrals with the simplified differential equations approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We calculate the complete set of two-loop Master Integrals with two off mass-shell legs with massless internal propagators, that contribute to amplitudes of diboson V1V2 production at the LHC.

Essential embryology for the Canadian pathologists’ assistant

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Pathologists' assistants (PAs) are pivotal in healthcare, conducting autopsies and examining tissues under a pathologist's guidance. Embryology knowledge is crucial for PAs to accurately assess anomalies and identify pathologies. Yet, it is often overlooked in academic PA training programs.

An improved optical costas loop PSK receiver: Simulation analysis

open access: yes, 2008
203-208Simulation analysis of proposed optical costas loop has been investigated considering strong nonlinearity of loop and finite loop delay through phase subtraction.

Integration of the arts and biomedical engineering in innovative interdisciplinary anatomy education: The synthetic anatomy module

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract The intersection of science and art has historically fostered innovation, yet the integration of creative arts into anatomy education remains limited. The Synthetic Anatomy module was designed to bridge anatomy teaching with creative design for bioscience and biomedical engineering students. This study evaluates the module's educational impact

Extent, characteristics and policy applications of Key Biodiversity Areas

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A global standard for the identification of Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) was published 10 years ago to provide a unified set of criteria for identifying ‘sites of significance for the global persistence of biodiversity’. We review the initiative's origins, the KBA identification process, characteristics of the current network, threats, policy

How wildlife respond to tropical cyclones: short‐term tactics and long‐term impacts

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT From butterflies to lizards and from sharks to seabirds, wildlife exhibit tactics to survive the impacts of tropical cyclones, also known as hurricanes, cyclones, or typhoons depending on where they occur. Some species seek refuge during the storm by moving, some remain in place and ride it out, and others move longer distances, avoiding the ...

Wiener’s Analysis of the Discrete-Time Phase-Locked Loop With Loop Delay

open access: yes, 2008
The discrete-time phase-locked loop (PLL) operating at the steady state is considered in this paper. Phase noise, which always affects oscillators, is modeled as a stationary random waveform and optimization of the loop filter is worked out in the light ...
