Force-deformation properties of human costo-sternal and costo-vertebral articulations
Journal of Biomechanics, 1974Abstract Experiments were conducted to measure the force-deformation properties of human costosternal and costo-vertebral articulations. These data are needed to enable studies to be made of the mechanical role of the rib cage in different situations.

Cerebro-costo-mandibular syndrome
Pediatric Radiology, 2001Cerebro-costo-mandibular syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by rib malformations, various degrees of cerebral maldevelopment, mental deficiency, palatal defects, and micrognatia. This syndrome was first described in 1966. The majority of cases are sporadic, but a few instances of familial occurrence have been reported, some with an autosomal ...

Cerebro-costo-mandibular syndrome
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1980The cerebro-costo-mandibular syndrome is characterized by cerebral maldevelopment or malfunction or both, costal deficiencies, and micrognathia. Cleft palate and glossoptosis are frequently present and contribute to the common presenting sign, neonatal respiratory distress. Intrauterine and postnatal growth retardation are common.

Costo-iliac impingement syndrome
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1985A syndrome of back and loin pain produced by impingement of the lowest rib against the iliac crest is described in six patients. All had noticed a significant loss of height and five had osteoporosis of the vertebral column. It is suggested that mechanical irritation of the lowest rib against the iliac crest was the cause of the pain and that ...

Cerebro‐Costo‐Mandibular Syndrome
Australasian Radiology, 1992ABSTRACTCerebro‐costo‐mandibular syndrome (CCM) is a very rare entity with oro‐facial features closely resembling Pierre‐Robin anomaly (1,2). We describe a patient with typical features: severe micro‐gnathia, glossoptosis, central cleft soft palate and multiple posterior rib‐gap defects Seen on chest radiograph.

Biomechanical Modeling of the Non-Linear Behavior of Costo-Vertebral and Costo-Transverse Joints
1999The goal of this study is to develop new biomechanical models representing the non-linear behavior of costo-vertebral and costo-transverse joints (CVCT). Three models of the CVCT joints were developed using different types of beams : 3D elastic beams; linear 3D plastic beams ; and multi-linear 3D plastic beams.

Up to now, only one experimental study reported the mechanical properties of the global costo-vertebral (CV) and costo-transverse (CT) articulations. However, from this study, it was not possible to determine the specific contribution of each component of these articulations.
