Cotton reproductive and fiber quality responses to nitrogen nutrition
2015Nutrient (N) stress affects cotton growth, primary physiological processes and fiber properties. This study utilized two sunlit growth chambers to compare cotton (cv. TM-1) responses to two levels of N nutrition imposed at the onset of flowering stage of development, 100 and 0% of optimum N, in plants grown under otherwise optimal temperature and soil ...

Association analysis and mapping of fiber quality in cotton
2020Gossypium genus is the ultimate source of natural fiber all over the globe. Limitations in conventional breeding program for genetic improvement are due to the complexity of the genetic pattern for economically important traits. The use of molecular markers for the detection and exploitation of DNA polymorphism is one of the most significant key for ...

Cotton fiber quality evaluation for cotton breeders and biotechnologists
2000An analysis of the variability in fiber properties measured with the HVI and the AFIS revealed that within-field variations in fiber properties were very large. Commercial harvesting, module storage, and ginning greatly reduced the variability; however, this "mixing process" is not possible throughout critical stages of cotton breeding.
