Two-phase couette flow

Fluid Dynamics, 1977
A study is made of plane laminar Couette flow, in which foreign particles are injected through the upper boundary. The effect of the particles on friction and heat transfer is analyzed on the basis of the equations of two-fluid theory. A two-phase boundary layer on a plate has been considered in [1, 2] with the effect of the particles on the gas flow ...

Model for Taylor-Couette flow

Physical Review A, 1985
Model equations for circular symmetric Taylor-Couette flow are derived in the narrow-gap limit by a mode truncation of the full Navier-Stokes equations. For static Taylor numbers these model equations can be transformed into the Lorenz equations for Rayleigh-B\'enard convection.

Superfluid Couette flow

2000
The stability of the Couette flow of superfluid helium is discussed using a generalized form of Landau’s two-fluid model. It is showed that the tension of the superfluid vortex lines has a great influence in determining the critical wavenumber and the critical Reynolds number of the transition from azimuthal Couette flow to Taylor vortex flow.

Unsteady magnetohydrodynamic couette flow

Wear, 1983
Abstract The effect of a uniform transverse magnetic field on the Couette flow of an electrically conducting fluid between two parallel plates for impulsive and uniformly accelerated motion of one of the plates is discussed. The magnetic lines of force are assumed to be fixed relative to the moving plate. The Laplace transform technique has been used

Plane Turbulent Couette Flow

Journal of Engineering Physics and Thermophysics, 2003
The problem on plane turbulent Couette flow for an incompressible liquid has been solved based on the anisotropic‐turbulence model.

Isothermal spherical Couette flow

2000
We summarise different types of instabilities and flow patterns in isothermal spherical Couette flows as a function of the aspect ratio. The flow of a viscous incompressible fluid in the gap between two concentric spheres was investigated for the case, that only the inner sphere rotates and the outer one is stationary.
