Coulomb Stress Change of Mw 7.5 Palu-Donggala Earthquake, Sulawesi (28 September 2018)

open access: yesJurnal Geofisika, 2020
The Mw 7.5 Palu earthquake that occurred in Palu-Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, on September 28, 2018, accompanied by the tsunami and liquefaction caused casualties and building damage in the city of Palu and its surroundings. One month later, a series of earthquakes swarm occurred in Mamasa, West Sulawesi.

Orbital selective insulator-metal transition in V2O3 under external pressure

open access: yes, 2005
We present a detailed account of the physics of Vanadium sesquioxide (${\rm V_2O_3}$), a benchmark system for studying correlation induced metal-insulator transition(s).

Spatiotemporal Evolution of Pore Pressure Changes and Coulomb Failure Stress in a Poroelastic Medium for Different Faulting Regimes

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2021
Spatial distribution of aftershocks has been explained by the co‐seismic static Coulomb Failure Stress changes (ΔCFS) to some extent. In practice, the earth's crust is porous medium saturated with fluid filling pores, cavities, cracks, and faults.

Stability and mass of point particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
In this paper we consider classical point particles in full interaction with an arbitrary number of dynamical scalar and (abelian) vector fields. It is shown that the requirement of stability ---vanishing self-force--- is sufficient to remove the well ...

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Importance of forearc topography for the triggering of aftershocks of megathrust earthquakes: insights from mechanical models and the Tohoku-Oki and Maule earthquakes [PDF]

open access: yesSolid Earth
Aftershocks of megathrust earthquakes at subduction zones may be driven by stresses arising from the topography of the forearc. However, the effect of topographic stresses on aftershock triggering is quantitatively not well understood and has been ...

Electro-elastic tuning of single particles in individual self-assembled quantum dots

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate the effect of uniaxial stress on InGaAs quantum dots in a charge tunable device. Using Coulomb blockade and photoluminescence, we observe that significant tuning of single particle energies (~ -0.5 meV/MPa) leads to variable tuning of ...

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Coulomb Stress Analysis of the West Coast Sumatra Earthquake on Mount Imun and Mount Helatoba

open access: yesJPFT (Jurnal Pendidikan Fisika dan Teknologi)
The island of Sumatra is a meeting area between the Indian Ocean plate in the South and the southwest edge of the Sunda Exposure, which is also the continental plate of Southeast Asia or the Eurasian Plate.

Mechanical Properties, Slip and Nucleation of the 1999 Chia-Yi Earthquake: the Question of Static Stress Influence from the 1999 Chi-Chi Earthquake

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2006
We investigate the effects of static stress transfer from the 1999 Chi-Chi Taiwan earthquake to the subsequent Chia-Yi earthquake by using Coulomb failure assumptions.
