Synthetic Strategies for Activity‐Based Probes to Decode Ubiquitin‐Like Modifiers

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ubiquitin‐like proteins (Ubls) such as SUMO, NEDD8, ISG15, URM1, UFM1, FAT10, ATG8/ATG12, and FUBI are essential regulators of cellular homeostasis, controlling processes from protein stability and trafficking to immune signaling and autophagy.

New coumarin-[60] fullerene dyads connected by an alkynyl linkage: Synthesis and fluorescence studies. Evidence for efficient singlet-singlet energy transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Two new coumarin-[60] fullerene dyads, in which an alkyne group covalently links C60 to coumarin, are synthesized via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition and spectroscopically characterized.

Pharmacokinetic Evaluation of a Cinnamon Product on CYP2A6 Substrate Drugs: Application of a Novel Tool Involving the Nicotine Metabolite Ratio

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum spp.) is used as a culinary spice and dietary supplement. A major constituent, cinnamaldehyde, was previously shown to inactivate cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2A6 in vitro. A mechanistic static model predicted an ~5‐fold increase in the AUC of the CYP2A6 substrates nicotine and letrozole.

Phenotypic, molecular, and in silico characterization of coumarin as carbapenemase inhibitor to fight carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae

open access: yesBMC Microbiology
Background Carbapenems represent the first line treatment of serious infections caused by drug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae. Carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae (CRKP) is one of the urgent threats to human health worldwide.

Dual‐Stabilized Single‐Site Fe(II) for Catalytic Conversion of CO2 to Propiolic Acid Under Ambient Condition

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
We develop a highly cost‐effective heterogeneous catalyst for efficient CO2 conversion to propiolic acid under mild conditions via a nano‐confined approach with porous MIL support. ABSTRACT Efficient conversion of carbon dioxide to organics has been a promising outlet for value‐added carbon dioxide consumption.

Coumarin-Induced Delay of Rice Seed Germination Is Mediated by Suppression of Abscisic Acid Catabolism and Reactive Oxygen Species Production

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Abscisic acid (ABA) is a crucial phytohormone for the regulation of seed germination. The ABA content of seeds is regulated by synthesis and catabolic pathways.

MELD score predicts outcomes in patients with advanced heart failure: A longitudinal evaluation

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 839-847, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Advanced heart failure (AHF) is characterized by recurrent episodes of haemodynamic instability and frequent hospitalizations, leading to a progressive decline in quality of life and high mortality rates. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of the model for end‐stage liver disease (MELD) score and its variations in ...

Push–Pull Ynamines and Push–Pull Ynamides: Synthesis, Structure, Reactivity, and Application

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Push–pull ynamines and push–pull ynamides, which carry an EWG and an amino or amido group as EDG, are highly interesting classes of EDG‐EWG alkynes that have been intensively studied due to their exceptional reactivity. In this review, the synthesis, structure, reactivity, and application of push–pull ynamines, push–pull ynecarbamates, push–pull ...

The Arabidopsis NPF7.2 mediates coumarin uptake for root iron acquisition. [PDF]

open access: yesNew Phytol
Summary Iron (Fe) is a transition metal necessary for achieving essential physiological processes throughout the plant lifecycle. In Arabidopsis thaliana, secreting Fe‐mobilizing coumarins (FMC) is a key mechanism enabling roots to acquire nonbioavailable Fe present in soils.
