Countercurrent distribution of poliovirus type 1

Virology, 1963
Abstract Differences in the countercurrent distribution pattern in an aqueous polymer phase system are demonstrated for various strains of poliovirus type 1. The attenuated strains L Sc 2 ab and Baylor Att.-1 have partition coefficients of 0.2–0.4 whereas the CHAT strains and a virulent strain have partition coefficients of ≈4.

Countercurrent Distribution in Protein Chemistry

1956
Publisher Summary The chapter discusses the countercurrent distribution in protein chemistry. The chapter presents the basic principles of countercurrent distribution, including the distribution law of Nernst and Partition Coefficient, multiple distribution, calculation of the fundamental process, and distribution curves.

Thin-layer countercurrent distribution

Analytical Biochemistry, 1965
Abstract An apparatus for countercurrent distribution with aqueous polymer two-phase systems is described. The settling time is reduced by using thin layers of the two phases. An experiment with sulfuric acid shows a good agreement between the experimental and the theoretical countercurrent distribution diagrams. A separation of two microorganisms by

Countercurrent Distribution of Colchicine and some Derivatives *

Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1953
Abstract A method for the determination of the composition of a binary mixture based on partition coefficients is reported. Where a significant difference exists in the partition coefficients of the two components for a given solvent system, an equation is presented which permits composition analyses where other methods may not be applicable.

Countercurrent distribution of ribonucleic acids. IV

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Specialized Section on Nucleic Acids and Related Subjects, 1962
Abstract RNA which has been prepared from rat liver by phenol-water or phenol-naphthalene 1,5-disulphonate methods can be fractionated by countercurrent distribution in two-phase systems of 2-alkoxyethanols and 1.25 M phosphate containing N , N -dibutylaminoethanol.

Modern Countercurrent Distribution

Separation and Purification Methods, 1975
Abstract Interest in liquid-liquid extraction continues to grow as evidenced by such divergent applications as industrial waste water treatment1,2 cleanup for pesticide residue analysis3, and resolution of optical isomers.4 This activity results from increased understanding of the chemistry of solvent extraction which is leading to the design of ...

Fractionation and countercurrent distribution of ribonucleic acid

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1960
Abstract 1. 1. RNA has been prepared from rat and chicken liver by phenol-water and phenol-naphthalene-1,5-disulphonate (NDS) methids. The RNA prepared by the phenol-NDS method appears to be less degraded than RNA isolated by phenol-water. 2. 2.
