Countercurrent distribution of poliovirus type 1

Virology, 1963
Abstract Differences in the countercurrent distribution pattern in an aqueous polymer phase system are demonstrated for various strains of poliovirus type 1. The attenuated strains L Sc 2 ab and Baylor Att.-1 have partition coefficients of 0.2–0.4 whereas the CHAT strains and a virulent strain have partition coefficients of ≈4.

Circular countercurrent-distribution behavioral genetic maze

Journal of Heredity, 1977
An inexpensive, easily constructed apparatus for mass screening of taxes of small animals with a rapid and accurate assignment of individual behavior scores has been described that should be of utility in hastening a behavioral geneticist's chores and allow him to handle more populations with fewer mazes.

Countercurrent distribution of ribonucleic acids. IV

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Specialized Section on Nucleic Acids and Related Subjects, 1962
Abstract RNA which has been prepared from rat liver by phenol-water or phenol-naphthalene 1,5-disulphonate methods can be fractionated by countercurrent distribution in two-phase systems of 2-alkoxyethanols and 1.25 M phosphate containing N , N -dibutylaminoethanol.

Phase equilibria and countercurrent distribution

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1968
AbstractTernary diagrams for methyl oleate/hexane/acetonitrile and methyl palmitate/hexane/acetonitrile systems were constructed from equilibria data obtained at 20.0 and 30.4C. The diagrams varied significantly with temperature; both systems showed expanded regions of immiscibility at the lower temperature. Both the partition coefficient of the methyl

[16] Countercurrent distribution

1967
Publisher Summary Countercurrent distribution is a method for the separation of protein subunits that offers the possibility of using conditions that cannot be achieved with separation methods such as electrophoresis or ion-exchange chromatography.

Nonideal Phenomena in Countercurrent Distribution

Separation Science, 1969
Abstract An equation is presented that predicts the number of inputs required to produce a step-function (frontal) output in countercurrent distribution (CCD). When a portion of both phases is transported during experiments, the published equations for CCD are inappropriate.

Countercurrent Distribution of Colchicine and some Derivatives *

Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1953
Abstract A method for the determination of the composition of a binary mixture based on partition coefficients is reported. Where a significant difference exists in the partition coefficients of the two components for a given solvent system, an equation is presented which permits composition analyses where other methods may not be applicable.

Fractionation and countercurrent distribution of ribonucleic acid

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1960
Abstract 1. 1. RNA has been prepared from rat and chicken liver by phenol-water and phenol-naphthalene-1,5-disulphonate (NDS) methids. The RNA prepared by the phenol-NDS method appears to be less degraded than RNA isolated by phenol-water. 2. 2.
