Factors Affecting the Counting Efficiency
, 2021In the previous chapter, we realized the importance of source preparation for getting meaningful results. However, in addition to source preparation, there are many other factors, like geometrical factors, scattering of radiation, selection of radiation emitted by the isotope etc., that also need to be considered for measuring the activity of the ...

Efficiency of Counting Systems
Proceedings of the Physical Society, 1948A review is made of the derivation of formulae for the efficiency of counting systems, comprising in the general case a counter and amplifier, a scaling circuit and a recorder. In the case of recorders of constant resolving time no complete formula has been found in the literature, and this has been derived.

Photomultiplier Single Photon Counting Efficiency
Applied Optics, 1973An RCA C31000F (8853) photomultiplier with a cathode quantum efficiency of 5.5% (for 633-nm light) was found to have a single photon counting efficiency of only 3.3%. The difference is shown to be due to small pulses well below the single electron peak in the output pulse height spectrum. These pulses are usually below the discriminator threshold level

Annotation-Efficient Cell Counting
2021Recent advances in deep learning have achieved impressive results on microscopy cell counting tasks. The success of deep learning models usually needs sufficient training data with manual annotations, which can be time-consuming and costly. In this paper, we propose an annotation-efficient cell counting approach which injects cell counting networks ...

Dose Efficiency of Quarter-Millimeter Photon-Counting Computed Tomography: First-in-Human Results
Investigative Radiology, 2018Purpose The aim of this study was to assess the clinical feasibility, image quality, and radiation dose implications of 0.25-mm imaging mode in a cohort of humans, achieved by dividing the photon-counting detector (PCD) size in half compared with ...

Crowd Counting in the Frequency Domain
Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2022This paper investigates crowd counting in the frequency domain, which is a novel direction compared to the traditional view in the spatial domain. By transforming the density map into the frequency domain and using the properties of the characteristic ...

Increasing the Efficiency of Bit-Counting
International Journal of Computers and Applications, 2007The operation of bit-counting, that is, determining the number of "1's" in a string of bits, is of significant importance for a number of computer applications such as coding theory, information retrieval, genetic algorithms, and file comparison. The growing importance of this operation has led to inclusion in recent computer systems of "popcount ...
