On Diffusion of Vorticity in Couple Stress Fluid
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1988The objective of the present paper is to examine the influence of polar effects on the diffusion of vorticity in couple stress fluids represented by Stokes' constitutive equations. In particular, the diffusion of a line vortex filament, the flow in a double array of vortices and the flow in the wake behind a two-dimensional grid are studied.

Couple-stresses in peristaltic transport of fluids
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1994Summary: Peristaltic pumping by a sinusoidal traveling wave in the walls of a two- dimensional channel field with a viscous incompressible couple-stress fluid is investigated. A perturbation solution is obtained which satisfies the momentum equation for the case in which the amplitude ratio (wave amplitude/channel half width) is small. The results show

Porous slider bearing with couple stress fluid
Acta Mechanica, 1990Theoretical study of porous slider bearing with couple stress fluid as lubricant is made and the lubrication qualities of couple stress fluid are examined. The lower surface is covered by a thin porous material and the upper one, having arbitrary shape, moves in its own plane with constant velocity.

A general expression is derived for the drag experienced by an axially symmetric body in the slow steady flow of Stokes' couple stress fluids. The result is compared with that obtained for micropolar fluids and then applied to the particular case of flow past a sphere.

Dynamics of a Couple‐Stress Fluid Membrane
Studies in Applied Mathematics, 1984This work concerns the dynamics of a two‐dimensional (surface) fluid membrane which resists bending in a manner reminiscent of elastic shells. Such bending stiffness can arise from the molecular structure of the membrane, the molecules being treated as “directors” oriented normal to the surface.

The effects of couple stresses in fluids are considered. Linearized constitutive equations are proposed for force and couple stresses. A series of boundary-value problems are solved to indicate the effects of couple stresses as well as for experiments measuring the various material constants. It is found that a size effect comes in which is not present

Couple-Stress in Peristaltic Transport of a Magneto-Fluid
Physica Scripta, 2001Summary: Peristaltic pumping by a sinusoidal travelling wave in the wall of a two-dimensional channel filled with a viscous incompressible couple-stress of a magneto-fluid is investigated theoretically and graphically. A perturbation solution is obtained which satisfies the momentum equation for the case in which the amplitude ratio is small.

Integral Representations in Couple Stress Theory of Fluids
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1979AbstractThe system of differential equations characterizing the slow, steady, incompressible flow of couple stress fluids is examined. Integral representation for the velocity vector is obtained with the aid of a constructed fundamental singular solution and a derived reciprocity theorem.
