Numerical evaluation of beam models based on the modified couple stress theory
Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, 2020An error in the beam model proposed by Lam, Yang, Chong, Wang, & Tong (2003) for the modified couple stress theory is found and corrected, and then the corrected model is verified by the finite element analysis.

In the mechanics of particles it is usually proved that a system of forces, say f (1),f (2),...,f (n) acting on a system of particles M1,...,Mn may be reduced to the resultant force (6.1) and to the resultant couple, which is defined with respect to a pole 0 by the expression (6.2) where r i are position vectors of the particles ...

On Incremental Deformations of Initially Stressed Media with Couple Stresses
Journal of the Franklin Institute, 1978Abstract A two-dimensional theory for the incremental deformations of an initially stressed continuum with couple stresses is established in this paper. As applications of theory, the problems of internal instability and wave propagation are studied. It is found that the otherwise non-dispersive waves become dispersive, and additional local modes of ...

Stress and coping in couples facing infertility
Current Opinion in Psychology, 2017Infertility presents an ideal setting for examining how stress impacts couple relationships. The effect of facing fertility problems on couple relationships is highly varied. Traditional stress and coping models are limited, because they do not account for partner interdependence.

Stress functions for plane problems with couple stresses
