Couple-Stress in Peristaltic Transport of a Magneto-Fluid
Physica Scripta, 2001Summary: Peristaltic pumping by a sinusoidal travelling wave in the wall of a two-dimensional channel filled with a viscous incompressible couple-stress of a magneto-fluid is investigated theoretically and graphically. A perturbation solution is obtained which satisfies the momentum equation for the case in which the amplitude ratio is small.

Neglect of the Fluid Extra Stresses in Volumetrically Coupled Solid‐Fluid Problems
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2001AbstractUsually the fluid flow through porous media is described by Darcy 's law or generalizations of it. In this contribution, Darcy 's law is derived from the theory of porous media. To archive this, the fluid extra stress (frictional stress) is neglected in comparision with the momentum exchange (drag force) between the fluid phase and the solid ...

Integral Representations in Couple Stress Theory of Fluids
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1979AbstractThe system of differential equations characterizing the slow, steady, incompressible flow of couple stress fluids is examined. Integral representation for the velocity vector is obtained with the aid of a constructed fundamental singular solution and a derived reciprocity theorem.

A Uniqueness Theorem on Couple-Stress Theory of Fluids
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1983Existence and uniqueness of solution for the three-dimensional exterior problem is established by first proving a reciprocal theorem which is then used to obtain an integral representation for the velocity vector in terms of fundamental solutions for both bounded and unbounded domains. This representation then yields the uniqueness.

Peristaltic transport of a couple-stress fluid
Rheologica Acta, 1986The problem of peristaltic transport of a couple-stress fluid has been investigated under a zero Reynolds number and long wavelength approximation. A comparison of the results with those for a Newtonian fluid model shows that the magnitude of the pressure rise under a given set of conditions is greater in the case of the couple-stress fluid.

Flow of couple stress fluid through stenotic blood vessels
Journal of Biomechanics, 1985The effects of an axially symmetric mild stenosis on the flow of blood, when blood is represented by a couple stress fluid model, have been studied. It is found that, for a fixed stenosis size, the resistance to flow and wall shear stress increase as the couple stress parameter eta decreases from unity.

Slider bearings lubricated by fluids with couple stress
Wear, 1979Abstract A theoretical study is presented of infinitely long slider bearings assuming the lubricant to be an incompressible fluid with couple stress. Analytical expressions for the load capacity, frictional force and the centre of pressure are derived.

Exact Solutions of Couple Stress Fluid Flows
2018Exact solutions of non-Newtonian fluid flows are very rare. In this paper, the couple stress fluid flows are considered and certain exact solutions of these flows are derived. The governing equations of motion of an incompressible steady-state couple stress fluid in the absence of body forces and body couples are considered.
