A propagation model for coupled lines

2008 31st International Spring Seminar on Electronics Technology, 2008
This paper develops the propagation model for cross-coupled transmission lines in the quasi transversal electromagnetic assumption starting from the first order form of wave equations. The most difficult problem is to apply the boundary conditions. To prove the correctness of the propagation model both MATLAB and PSCPICE simulations were carried out.

Loss Calculation in Parallel Coupled Lines

1972 IEEE GMTT International Microwave Symposium, 1972
A method to calculate dissipation loss in any number of parallel coupled lines is presented. The method is an extension of Wheeler's technique for a single transmission line. The results can be used to calculate performance of lossy transmission line network using parallel coupled lines.

Multisection Vialess Baluns with Coupled-Line Impedance Transformers

2006 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2006
Multisection vialess baluns are proposed by cascading several lambda/4 edge-coupled lines. Without needing any via-hole or ground connection, these vialess baluns are simply implemented on microstrip structures. With the backside aperture, the even-mode impedance of coupled microstrip lines is raised beyond 280 Omega.

Compact Three Section Coupled Line Couplers

2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings, 2006
In this paper, a novel coupled transmission line coupler is proposed with compact size and increased design flexibility. The coupling characteristic of the coupler is given in closed-form formula through the even-odd analysis and the design methods are presented based on the analysis results.

A novel wide-band hybrid coupler using coupled-line power divider and improved coupled-line phase shifter

Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 2012
A novel hybrid coupler aiming for wide-band applications is proposed in this paper. This hybrid coupler consists of a broadband Wilkinson coupled-line power divider and an improved wide-band coupled-line phase shifter. Taking advantage of the coupled-line section, the power divider achieves both compact circuit configuration and wide-band performance ...

A generalized theory for asymmetrical coupled lines

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1989
A method that calculates the properties of geometrically or electromagnetically asymmetrical coupled lines is discussed. Analogous to the normally used theory of even and odd modes, the electromagnetic fields on the computer are described in terms of two modes as the basic variables to calculate the coupling behavior. As a criterion for determining the

Balun networks using coupled‐line structures

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1992
AbstractIn this article a new kind of balun network with filter characteristics and with arbitrary impedance transformation ratios is introduced, and a synthesis method for such balun networks using interdigital‐line structures is described.
