This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Modal parameters of unequal coupled lines
New formulas and graphs for modal parameters are given, which are necessary for the synthesis of unequal coupled lines with arbitrary dielectric filling. The choice of modal parameters, such as characteristic impedance, coupling coefficient, modal voltages and dielectric constants, as initial data for the calculation allows optimal synthesis of the ...

A software defined radio receiver test-bed [PDF]
This paper identifies the issues that are important in the design of a SDR receiver. Receiver architectures are first discussed, and the conclusion drawn that the conventional superheterodyne structure is most appropriate for a SDR receiver.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Strongly Enhanced Sensitivity in Planar Microwave Sensors Based on Metamaterial coupling
Limited sensitivity and sensing range are arguably the greatest challenges in microwave sensor design. Recent attempts to improve these properties have relied on metamaterial- (MTM-) inspired open-loop resonators (OLRs) coupled to transmission lines (TLs)

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Dual Band Branch Line Coupler With Wide Frequency Ratio
A dual-band quadrature branch line coupler (BLC) with wide frequency ratio has been proposed in this paper. A dual-band quarter wave (λ/4) transmission line structure with wide frequency ratio operation has also been presented here with closed ...
