Integrable Couplings of the Coupled Burgers Hierarchy

Communications in Theoretical Physics, 2004
Summary: In this letter, a new loop algebra \(\tilde{G}\) is constructed, from which a new isospectral problem is established. It follows that integrable couplings of the well-known coupled Burgers hierarchy are obtained.

Coupled Line Equations with Random Coupling

Bell System Technical Journal, 1972
The coupled line equations for two modes traveling in the same direction are considered. The covariances of the mode transfer functions are calculated in the case of random coupling. Exact results are obtained when the coupling is a function of a finite state Markov chain, and also when the coupling is white noise.

Counseling and Couple Therapy for Infertile Couples*

Family Process, 2002
The article describes a two‐tier, interdisciplinary design for the psychological counseling and therapy of childless couples. It is solution‐ and resource‐oriented and avoids psychopathological ascriptions. Couples are supported in coming to terms with the crisis of a physical disorder and its emotional consequences; they are also aided in developing ...

The Pregnant Couple

International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 1977
ABSTRACTAlthough the husband's reactions to and feelings about his wife's pregnancy are frequently overlooked, his wife is always concerned about his perception of her. She often feels unattractive and is most interested in how satisfied her husband is with her pregnant body.

The Taxation of Couples

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2023
Are reforms towards individual taxation politically feasible? Are they desirable from a welfare perspective? We develop a method to answer such questions and apply it to the US federal income tax since the 1960s. Main findings are: As of today, Pareto-improvements require a move away from joint taxation.

Interventions for Couples

Annual Review of Clinical Psychology, 2020
Because relationship discord and dissolution are common and costly, interventions are needed to treat distressed couples and to prevent distress among vulnerable couples. We review meta-analytic evidence showing that 60–80% of distressed couples benefit from behavioral and emotion-focused approaches to couple therapy, but we also note that treatment ...

Loose Couplings

IEEE Internet Computing, 2013
Rigid designs are often brittle under stress; loosely coupled systems, on the other hand, can withstand changing conditions and stresses more effectively. Such designs are often more adaptable. Currency exchange rates, information hiding, and the design of earthquake-resistant buildings all share this loose coupling property.

The taxation of couples [PDF]

open access: possible, 2007
This paper is concerned with the question of how couples should be taxed. One reason for the importance of this issue is simply that the overwhelming majority of individuals live in households formed around couples, and so it could be argued that empirically, this is the single most important problem in personal income taxation. A second reason is that

Couplings, coupling networks and their graphs

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1995
Definitions are proposed for some interrelated concepts that should interest, and perhaps provoke, scholars of TMM and related disciplines. Many are revisions of definitions for well-established terms provided by Commission A of IFToMM. Criticisms of some TMM definitions are cited that were made as long ago as 1876.
