Modeling and Coupling Particle Scale Heat Transfer with DEM through Heat Transfer Mechanisms

Numerical Heat Transfer, Part A: Applications, 2013
The detailed heat transfer mechanisms particle interior, gas film around particles, gas gap between contact surfaces, and rough surface are considered to model heat transfer between particles. The validation of the heat transfer model is accomplished and the predicted results show good agreement with other experiments.

BEM for coupling radiation-conduction heat transfer

SCIENTIA SINICA Physica, Mechanica & Astronomica, 2011
A boundary element method is presented for solving radiation-conduction coupling heat transfer problems. Two heat transfer processes are coupled by using radiation sources. Firstly, equations of radiative heat transfer, radiative heat source and heat conduction are discretized using BEM, respectively. Secondly, the radiative heat flux in radiative heat

Coupling heat conduction and radiative transfer

Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 2002
A method to compute combined heat conduction and radiative transfer in a semitransparent medium is proposed. The heat equation is solved by an implicit finite-difference scheme and the radiation is simulated using a ray-tracing method. Stability and convergence for the coupling of both methods is shown.

Coupled seepage and heat transfer intake model

Transactions of Tianjin University, 2009
In the beach well intake system, heat is transferred from soil to fluid when seawater is filtered through the aquifer, providing higher temperature source water to the seawater source heat pump (SWHP) system in winter. A 3-D coupled seepage and heat transfer model for studying beach well intake system is established by adopting the computer code FLUENT.

ON COUPLED HEAT—MOISTURE TRANSFER IN DEFORMABLE POROUS MEDIA

The Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics, 1994
The authors formulate a model for coupled heat-moisture transfer through deformable porous medium, which coincides with the Philip-de Vries theory when the effects of deformation and liquid-vapor phase transition are omitted. The correspondent linearized model reduces to Biot's theory when the thermal effect is neglected.

Heat Transfer in Liquid-Coupled Indirect Heat Exchanger Systems

Journal of Heat Transfer, 1975
The theory of liquid-coupled indirect heat exchanger systems has been studied to ascertain optimum criteria with respect to the coupling-liquid flow rate and the distribution of total heat transfer area between the hot-side and cold-side exchanger units in the case of counterflow arrangement.

Coupled heat and mass transfer in regenerators—prediction using an analogy with heat transfer

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1972
Abstract In regenerative heat and mass exchangers, or regenerators, heat and one or a number of adsorbates are transferred cyclically from one fluid stream to a porous matrix and then from the porous matrix to the other fluid streams. In the simple model used here transfer is described by a single film transfer coefficient, and diffusion in the fluid
