Peptide Bond Vibrational Coupling

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2007
Neutral trialanine (Ala3), which is geometrically constrained to have its peptide bond at Phi and Psi angles of alpha-helix and PPII-like conformers, are studied at the B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) level of theory to examine vibrational interactions between adjacent peptide units.

Vibrational coupled cluster theory

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2004
The theory and first implementation of a vibrational coupled cluster (VCC) method for calculations of the vibrational structure of molecules is presented. Different methods for introducing approximate VCC methods are discussed including truncation according to a maximum number of simultaneous mode excitations as well as an interaction space order ...

Coupled Vibration of Embedded Foundation

Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 1989
The paper describes a simplified mathematical model of the coupled horizontal and rocking vibration of an embedded foundation. Vibration tests of the foundation with different embedments were conducted and compared with different methods. Conclusions drawn from the theoretical analysis and dynamic experiments are presented.

Vibration-vibration coupling in the dissociation of a diatomic gas

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 1970
Abstract : A previous formulation of the master equation for the dissociation of a dilute diatomic gas is extended to the nondilute case by the inclusion of V-V transitions. Using existing experimental and theoretical data for other molecules, estimates are made for the V-V transition probabilities in H2.

Torsional Vibration and Related Coupled Vibration

2019
Torsional vibrations are often problematic in transient responses when a rotor-bearing system starts up. The vibration is more predominant and unavoidable in geared rotor systems. Though torsional vibration poses long-term problems, new methods of rotor design have been established by employing the transfer matrix method, which are capable of ...

Vibrational-vibrational coupling in air at low humidities

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1986
Calculations of sound absorption in air are traditionally based on the assumption that molecular relaxations in nitrogen and oxygen are independent. In binary mixtures of these two gases, however, molecular relaxation is known to be controlled by a very strong vibrational-vibrational (V-V) coupling, which influences both the relaxation times and the ...

A linear coupling controller for plate vibration

2001 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics. Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8556), 2002
A means of designing linear coupling controllers (LCCs) for multi-degree of freedom systems is developed. An LCC is applied to a thin plate partially clamped on one edge and free on all other edges. The LCC developed here is compared to an LCC designed using the energy monitoring algorithm and to a quadratic non-linear controller. The comparison of the
