Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Design of arbitrary optical filters in silicon-on-insulator using evanescently-coupled Bragg gratings [PDF]
Spectral filters are experiencing an increasing demand in several applications of the silicon- on-insulator (SOI) platform. Many works have demonstrated that arbitrary frequency responses can be synthesized by apodizing the coupling coefficient profile

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Computationally Efficient Impact Estimation of Coil Misalignment for Magnet-Free Cochlear Implants
A cochlear implant (CI) system holds two spiral coils, one external and one implanted. These coils are used to transmit both data and power. A magnet at the center of the coils ensures proper alignment to assure the highest coupling.

Coupling coefficients of a distributed execution
Coupling coefficients of a distributed execution which evaluate the temporal interactions (delays) of a distributed execution between the processes during execution are defined. The coefficients assess the structure of message exchanges rather than the quantity of exchanged information.

Comparison of membrane wave coupling coefficients [PDF]
Comparisons are made between various estimates of the coupling coefficients that characterize the longitudinal wave contribution to acoustic scattering from thin elastic circular cylindrical and spherical shells. A common method of obtaining the coupling coefficient is through the application of the Sommerfeld–Watson transformation to the exact modal ...

Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

Design and Experimental Study of Down Hole Contactless Power Transmission Device
The push-the-bit rotary steerable drilling system needs to transmit the rotating electrical energy to the non-rotating jacket downhole. The traditional contact power transmission form is difficult to adapt to the harsh downhole working environment.
