Intermediate vibrational coordinate localization with harmonic coupling constraints

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2016
Optimized normal coordinates can significantly improve the speed and accuracy of vibrational frequency calculations. However, over-localization can occur when using unconstrained spatial localization techniques. The unintuitive mixtures of stretching and bending coordinates that result can make interpreting spectra more difficult and also cause ...

Optimized coordinates in vibrational coupled cluster calculations

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2014
The use of variationally optimized coordinates, which minimize the vibrational self-consistent field (VSCF) ground state energy with respect to orthogonal transformations of the coordinates, has recently been shown to improve the convergence of vibrational configuration interaction (VCI) towards the exact full VCI [K. Yagi, M. Keçeli, and S. Hirata, J.

Coupled EM-structural analysis in convected coordinates

2018 International Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society Symposium (ACES), 2018
The form of Maxwell's equations when expressed in material coordinates has been debated for decades. The most commonly accepted formulation is known to be inconsistent, even to first order approximation. It has been shown that self-consistent formulations are possible when convected coordinates are used.

Spatial Coupling in the Coordination of Complex Actions

The Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology A, 1997
The majority of investigations on coordinated action have focused on temporal constraints in movements. Recent studies have demonstrated spatial constraints when the hands produce different trajectory shapes simultaneously. The focus of the current study was to determine whether spatial coupling occurs in individual parameters of the actions, or ...

Behavioural Coordination in Acoustically Coupled Agents

1998
Approaching behaviour is studied in simulated agents interacting acoustically. A genetic algorithm is used to evolve a fully recurrent, continuous neural network for controlling the agents. Evolved agents actively discriminate the location of external sources of sound.

Coordinality - A Measure of Man-Machine Coupling

IRE Transactions on Human Factors in Electronics, 1960
In situations in which the human operator is asked to transmit as much information as he can, it has been observed that the amount of information he transmits varies with the number of variable aspects of the source and the number of physical dimensions used in coding.
