Efficient coupling into and out of high-Q resonators

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2004
The temporal-coupled-mode theory is directly applied to the design of devices that feature a resonator with a high quality factor. For the temporal-coupled-mode theory we calculate the decay rate of the resonator to determine the transmission properties of the device.

Working Effectively and Efficiently with Couples

The Family Journal, 2000
The field of couples therapy suffers from a dearth of empirically supported materials. Anecdotes, conjecture, and hearsay abound. This article discusses several myths and underscores some active ingredients of effective couples counseling. The adjunctive value of bibliotherapy is presented and the interactions among such components as similarity ...

Efficient and compact coupling to slow light structures

16th International Conference on Optical MEMS and Nanophotonics, 2011
In this study, we present several coupling structures designed for two different slow light photonic crystal waveguides (PCW). These slow light structures provide group indices of approximately 1200 and 950. For the first waveguide, very high coupling efficiency of 97% is declared from/to conventional waveguide to/from slow light PCW.

On Efficient Coupling of ASR and SMT for Speech Translation

2007 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing - ICASSP '07, 2007
This paper presents an efficient tightly integrated approach for improved speech translation performance. The proposed approach combines the automatic speech recognition (ASR) and statistical machine translation (SMT) components in a bi-directional fashion.

Efficient coupling of parallel applications using PAWS

Proceedings. The Seventh International Symposium on High Performance Distributed Computing (Cat. No.98TB100244), 2002
PAWS (Parallel Application WorkSpace) is a software infrastructure for use in connecting separate parallel applications within a component-like model. A central PAWS Controller coordinates the linking of serial or parallel applications across a network to allow them to share parallel data structures such as multidimensional arrays. Applications use the

Efficient coupled noise estimation for on-chip interconnects

1997 Proceedings of IEEE International Conference on Computer Aided Design (ICCAD), 1997
Noise analysis and avoidance is an increasingly critical step in deep submicron design. Ever increasing requirements on performance have led to widespread use of dynamic logic circuit families and its other derivatives. These aggressive circuit families trade off noise margin for timing performance making them more susceptible to noise failure and ...
