An industrial, confined, dual frequency, capacitively coupled, radio-frequency plasma etch reactor (Exelan®, Lam Research) has been modified for spatially resolved optical measurements. Space and phase resolved optical emission spectroscopy yields insight into the dynamics of the discharge.
