Coupling-length trimming by metal loading in optical coupled-waveguides
Optical and Quantum Electronics, 1981A simple method for adjusting light coupling between two waveguides is presented. The method involves trimming the interaction length by loading a metal film on to one of the coupled-waveguides. It is effective only for the TM mode, and trimming can be achieved very simply.

A Simplified Coupling Power Model of Single Mode Fiber Fusion at Coupling Length
2009 Third Asia International Conference on Modelling & Simulation, 2009Fabrications of single mode fiber coupling by heating fibers on a flame are very common and popular. However, controlling the output power of fiber coupling process is neither easy nor similar. Power losses occur at the coupling length due to geometrical change of the fibers after fusion.
