Rheological Properties of Covalent Adaptable Networks with 1,2,3-Triazolium Cross-Links: The Missing Link between Vitrimers and Dissociative Networks

open access: yes, 2020
Vitrimers, in stringent contrast to dissociative networks, involve associative covalent exchanges and remain fully cross-linked at all temperatures. However, we have previously reported on poly(1,2,3-triazolium) dynamic networks that exhibit linear ...

Probing the Solubility of Imine-Based Covalent Adaptable Networks

open access: yes, 2023
Covalent adaptable networks (CANs) are polymer materials that are covalently cross-linked via dynamic covalent bonds. The cross-linked polymer network is generally expected to be insoluble, as is seen for traditional thermosets. However, in recent years,

Acetoacetates Derived From Vegetable Oils: A Platform for Tailor‐Made Vinylogous Urethane Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A renewable vegetable oil is converted into acetoacetate‐functionalized precursors for the preparation of catalyst‐free vinylogous urethane foams. Room‐temperature foaming with n‐pentane generates lightweight cellular materials, while the choice of amine enables control over foam structure and mechanical properties.

Photo‐Degradable Polyester Networks and Multi‐Photon Printed Objects Based on Cyclic Ketene Acetals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The current work introduces a photoreversible polyester network derived from radical ring‐opening polymerization of cyclic ketene acetals. It combines photoreversible cross‐linking with initiator‐free multi‐photon printing. Reversible network formation, tunable mechanical properties, and selective degradation highlight its potential as a versatile ...

Covalent Adaptable Networks Using β-Amino Esters as Thermally Reversible Building Blocks

open access: yes, 2021
International audienceIn this study, β-amino esters, prepared by the aza-Michael addition of an amine to an acrylate moiety, are investigated as building blocks for the formation of dynamic covalent networks.

Desert Plant Inspired Hierarchical Nanofibrous Membranes for Integrated Solar Desalination and Heavy Metal Remediation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An Alhagi maurorum inspired hierarchical composite membrane (NFCu) was developed by integrating heavy metal remediation and solar‐driven interfacial evaporation in a single platform. Beyond the photothermal effect, a localized photocatalytic process is realized on the CuO surface, deepening the mechanistic understanding of light–matter–water ...

Graded Metallopolymer Structures with Shape‐Memory Abilities via DLP‐Based 3D‐Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the digital light processing (DLP) based 3D printing of graded metallopolymers featuring shape‐memory abilities. The permanent shape can be recovered in two distinct steps with excellent rates. The obtained graded prints range from simple rod‐like structures to complex hollow materials.

Covalent Functionalization of 2D Semiconductors: A Roadmap to Advanced Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Review presents recent advances in the covalent functionalization strategies for two‐dimensional semiconductors and their implementation in modern technologies. Layered materials are modified through diverse molecular chemistries (e.g., thiols, diazonium salts, alkyl halides, and electron‐deficient species) to tailor their surface properties ...
