Variance component estimates applying random regression models for test-day milk yield in Caracu heifers (Bos taurus Artiodactyla, Bovidae)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2008
Random regression models (RRM) were used to estimate covariance functions for 2,155 first-lactation milk yields of native Brazilian Caracu heifers. The models included contemporary group (defined as year-month of test and paddock) fixed effects, and ...

A Generic Approach to Covariance Function Estimation Using ARMA-Models

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
Covariance function modeling is an essential part of stochastic methodology. Many processes in geodetic applications have rather complex, often oscillating covariance functions, where it is difficult to find corresponding analytical functions for ...

Note on AR(1)-characterisation of stationary processes and model fitting

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications, 2019
It was recently proved that any strictly stationary stochastic process can be viewed as an autoregressive process of order one with coloured noise. Furthermore, it was proved that, using this characterisation, one can define closed form estimators for ...

Discriminant Functions with Covariance

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1948
This paper discusses the extension of the discriminant function to the case where certain variates (called the covariance variates) are known to have the same means in all populations. Although such variates have no discriminating power by themselves, they may still be utilized in the discriminant function.

Discriminant analysis of Gaussian spatial data with exponential covariance structure

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2005
This paper considers the discrimination of the observation of the stationary Gaussian random field belonging to one of two populations with different means and covariance functions.

Gaussian Processes for Vegetation Parameter Estimation from Hyperspectral Data with Limited Ground Truth

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
An important application of airborne- and satellite-based hyperspectral imaging is the mapping of the spatial distribution of vegetation biophysical and biochemical parameters in an environment.

Estimates of direct and maternal covariance functions for growth of Australian beef calves from birth to weaning

open access: yesGenetics Selection Evolution, 2001
Records for birth and subsequent, monthly weights until weaning on beef calves of two breeds in a selection experiment were analysed fitting random regression models. Independent variables were orthogonal (Legendre) polynomials of age at weighing in days.
