Adaptive covariance matrix for object region representation
SPIE Proceedings, 2013Region covariance descriptor has been employed in many computer vision applications such as texture classification, object detection and object tracking. It provides a natural way of fusing multiple features based on a set of pixels of a given region.

Covariance Matrix Adaptation Particle Filter
2014 Iranian Conference on Intelligent Systems (ICIS), 2014Based on Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolution Strategy (CMA-ES) and Particle Filter (PF), an intelligent particle filter, namely Covariance matrix adaptation particle filter (CMA-PF), is proposed in this paper. Search abilities of CMA-ES are utilized within proposed method to perform Prior Regularization, which helps the particle filter to generate ...

Adaptive SVD algorithm for covariance matrix eigenstructure computation
International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2002An adaptive algorithm is presented for covariance matrix eigenstructure computation based on the updated computation of the SVD (singular value decomposition) of a data matrix formed with the received data vectors appended as columns. Simulation results show that the algorithm is successful in tracking the eigenstructure of a time-varying covariance ...

Adaptive Beamforming Based on Interference Covariance Matrix Estimation
2019 53rd Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2019In this paper, we propose a robust adaptive beam-forming algorithm, where the interference-plus-noise covariance matrix is estimated by identifying and removing the desired signal component from the sample covariance matrix. For this purpose, we construct a desired signal subspace and its orthogonal subspace to identify the eigenvector of the sample ...

Fast converging adaptive processor or a structured covariance matrix
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2000The use of adaptive linear techniques to solve signal processing problems is needed particularly when the interference environment external to the signal processor (such as for a radar or communication system) is not known a priori. Due to this lack of knowledge of an external environment, adaptive techniques require a certain amount of data to cancel ...

A topological niching covariance matrix adaptation for multimodal optimization
2014 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC), 2014Multimodal optimization attempts to find multiple global and local optima of a function. Finding a set of optimal solutions is particularly important for practical problems. However, this kind of problem requires optimization techniques that demand a high computational cost and a large amount of parameters to be adjusted. These difficulties increase in

Dynamic Niching in Evolution Strategies with Covariance Matrix Adaptation
2005 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation, 2005Evolutionary algorithms (EAs) have the tendency to converge quickly into a single solution in the search space. However, many complex search problems require the identification and maintenance of multiple solutions. Niching methods are the extension of EAs to address this issue.

Evolutionary Bilevel Optimization Based on Covariance Matrix Adaptation
IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, 2019Bilevel optimization refers to a challenging optimization problem which contains two levels of optimization problems. The task of bilevel optimization is to find the optimum of the upper-level problem, subject to the optimality of the corresponding lower-level problem.

Simplified covariance matrix measurement in adaptive arrays
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1990A procedure to measure the covariance matrix of an antenna array directly from the array sum port is described. The procedure involves specifically chosen sets of antenna weights that will allow the matrix components to appear at the array output. A parallel method of measuring the covariance matrix is also described.
