Cover song identification with 2D Fourier Transform sequences
2017 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2017We approach cover song identification using a novel time-series representation of audio based on the 2DFT. The audio is represented as a sequence of magnitude 2D Fourier Transforms (2DFT). This representation is robust to key changes, timbral changes, and small local tempo deviations. We look at cross-similarity between these time-series, and extract a

Entropy per chroma for Cover song identification
2016 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC), 2016A Cover song is a rendition of a previously recorded piece of music, cover song identification is about automatically recognizing a song as perceptually the same as another performance of the same song even thought it was played in a different place, perhaps by other musicians each with their own musical instruments.

Proceedings of the 18th ACM international conference on Multimedia, 2010
We present FALCON, an open-source engine for content-based cover song identification written in Java. The popular Lucene search engine library is used as the core of the software, proving that textual methods in information retrieval can be successfully adapted to multimedia tasks.

Cover song identification by sequence alignment algorithms
SPIE Proceedings, 2011Content-based music analysis has drawn much attention due to the rapidly growing digital music market. This paper describes a method that can be used to effectively identify cover songs. A cover song is a song that preserves only the crucial melody of its reference song but different in some other acoustic properties. Hence, the beat/chroma-synchronous

Deep learning methods for cover song identification
2023Cover song identification (CSI) is the task of determining whether a given recording of a song is a new performance other than the original version. Automatically detecting cover versions has plenty of applications in the music industry as well as copyright law. In this Thesis we present a methodology for CSI based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)

Effective Cover Song Identification Based on Skipping Bigrams
2018 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2018So far, few cover song identification systems that utilize index techniques achieve great success. In this paper, we propose a novel approach based on skipping bigrams that could be used for effective index. By applying Vector Quantization, our algorithm encodes signals into code sequences.

Music fingerprint extraction for classical music cover song identification
2008 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2008An algorithm for extracting music fingerprints directly from an audio signal is proposed in this paper. The proposed music fingerprint aims to encapsulate various aspects of musical information, such as overall note distribution, harmony structure, and their temporal changes, all in a compact representation.

Content-Based Cover Song Identification in Music Digital Libraries
2010In this paper we report the status of our research on the problem of content-based cover song identification in music digital libraries. An approach which exploits both harmonic and rhythmic facets of music is presented and evaluated against a test collection. Directions for future work are proposed, and particular attention is given to the scalability

Efficient Two-Layer Model Towards Cover Song Identification
Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 2018So far, few cover song identification systems aim at practical application. On one hand, existing sequence alignment methods achieve a high precision at the expense of high time cost. On the other hand, for large-scale identification, researchers attempt to exploit fixed low-dimensional features to reduce time cost.

Dynamic chroma feature vectors with applications to cover song identification
2008 IEEE 10th Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing, 2008A new chroma-based dynamic feature vector is proposed inspired by psychophysical observations that the human auditory system detects reltative pitch changes rather than absolute pitch values. The proposed chroma-based dynamic feature vector describes the relative pitch change intervals.
