On the Coverage Probability of Bias-Corrected Confidence Bounds [PDF]

open access: possible2020 Asia-Pacific International Symposium on Advanced Reliability and Maintenance Modeling (APARM), 2020
In this paper, we conduct Monte Carlo simulation studies in order to assess the coverage probability of bias-corrected confidence bounds for the Weibull distribution. It is shown that coverage probabilities of confidence bounds are highly dependent on the chosen bias-correction method.

Closed-Form Coverage Probability in Cellular Networks With Poisson Point Process

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2019
For the cellular networks with Poisson point process and general path-loss exponent, we derive a closed-form expression of the coverage probability. Its graphical profile perfectly matches with the one that is obtained by numerical integration.

On a property of probability matching priors: matching the alternative coverage probabilities

Biometrika, 1999
SUMMARY In frequentist inference based on confidence sets, both the true coverage and the probability for a confidence set to include an alternative value of the parameter of interest are important. Thus if probability matching priors also match such alternative coverage probabilites there is perhaps a stronger justification for calling them ...

Optimal Base Station Deployment with Downlink Rate Coverage Probability Constraint

IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2018
The uncertainty in user locations and channel conditions makes the deployment and performance analysis of wireless networks challenging. Stochastic geometry has emerged as a powerful tool for analyzing the performance of wireless networks, assuming ...

QUANTILE ESTIMATION AND PROBABILITY COVERAGES

Australian Journal of Statistics, 1980
SummaryWhen estimating population quantiles via a random sample from an unknown continuous distribution function it is well known that a pair of order statistics may be used to set a confidence interval for any single desired, population quantile. In this paper the technique is generalized so that more than one pair of order statistics may be used to ...

On some coverage probability maximization problems

Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 1980
Duals of bilinear programming problems are used to establish some optimality properties of probability coverage optimization problems. These problems include confidence interval problems and hypothesis testing problems in particular cases.

Asymptotic Expansion of the Coverage Probability of James–Stein Estimators

Theory of Probability & Its Applications, 2007
This paper provides a new approach to the asymptotic expansion construction of the coverage probability of the confidence sets recentered in [W. James and C. Stein, Estimation with quadratic loss, in Proceedings of the Fourth Berkeley Symposium on Mathematical Statistics and Probability, Vol. 1, Univ. California Press, Berkeley, CA, 1961, pp.

The asymptotic values of certain coverage probabilities

Biometrika, 1969
SUMMARY Consider n arbitrary subsets of a set X. Suppose x e X lies in H(x) of these subsets and define H = min H(x) and H = max H(x). That is, the least and most covered regions of X are x E X _ x E respectively H- and H-covered, with 0 n-rm) are determined for m = 0, 1,. 1.

Choosing a coverage probability for forecasting the incidence of cancer

Statistics in Medicine, 2014
Loddon Mallee Integrated Cancer Service plays a key role in planning the delivery of cancer services in the Loddon Mallee Region of Victoria, Australia. Such planning relies on the accuracy of forecasting the incidence of cancer. Perhaps more importantly is the need to reflect the uncertainty of these forecasts, which is usually carried out through ...

An Energy-Balanced Probability Coverage Algorithm for WSN

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
The sensing capabilities of sensor nodes are affected by various factors in the actual environment, and the ideal disk sensing model is not available in the practical sensor network. In this paper, we proposed an Energy-balance Coverage Algorithm based on Probability (ECAP).
